This incredible video from Gainesville.com shows a concealed carrier defending himself and the patrons of an Internet cafe against a pair of armed robbers. What would you have done in this situation? Do you think he reacted appropriately?

“I wouldnt have taken that last shot out the door”
I would. Watch seconds 43 and 44 of the video...the first view of his final shots. He did not over pursue. Nor was he firing indiscriminately. The bad guy still had a gun on the ground in the doorway, the last shot was taken as the bad guy was rolling over and getting up...(which way is he going to go if the last shot is not fired and our good guy stopped back at the counter?)...I don’t know and neither did our good guy...he made sure with that final shot that the BG kept going in the right direction!
Both the good guy and bad guy are moving...bad guys at full speed falling down...
Not sure caliber would have made any difference. Very few people get to practice moving shots, particularly when both parties are moving, adrenaline pumping etc. It is hard to hit someone. He got one in the arm, and the other twice near center of mass (leg & hip). a 10mm hitting arm, leg and hip would not necessarily be fatal depending on angle of entry.
Our good guy was controlled throughout...amazing!!!
People preach “shot placement” for a reason. For people like me, some times a bigger hole in the perp can compensate for variance in my shooting ability.
Have to disagree with you: even though the perps were “retreating”, they were still a threat while they were able to turn and shoot. As far as anyone could assume, both crooks were armed and meant to kill. If they recovered their nerves and turned back, the victims would have been placed in danger again.. The lesson I learned in Vietnam was to keep shooting until they’re down, then keep shooting to make sure they stay down, forever. Ammo is cheap and life isn’t.

Looking very closely, I believe the shooter had to rack the pistol and chambered a round just prior to firing.
In other words, his gun did not appear to be locked and loaded.
No fanny pack, shirt tucked in wearing shorts. Appears he had the pistol in his pocket. Just guessing.
“”The gun was broken and rusty and wasn’t loaded. Nobody was going to get hurt,” he said, standing with crutches. “
How was anyone supposed to know that? Thugs should make that announcement right up front so the people can just beat the crap out of them instead of shooting!
And yeah... You catch a magnum class pistol round on a major body part and you are going to have serious issues to deal with. Shoulder shot a feral hog with my 10mm once... I know exactly the kind of damage it can inflict. Didn't ruin the bacon, but it was DRT just the same.

Tactically, he ran the fight on his terms. Excellent work. Definitely a Vet.
“”The gun was broken and rusty and wasn’t loaded. Nobody was going to get hurt,” he said, standing with crutches.”
Au Contrair! When you show up to rob some folks with a gun, the fact that you didn’t load it doesn’t matter at all. Stupid is as stupid does!
Dang proud of this citizen. He done good. Also looks like they have a DA with common sense not looking to gain 15 mins of fame on the bones of an innocent man.
That was tough for me to see, but I watched it again and I think you’re right.
In any case, that man did a great job, all considered.
“At the Internet cafe, investigators collected a .45-caliber handgun they believe was carried by Henderson, which he confirmed in his interview.Henderson was charged with attempted robbery with a firearm and felony criminal mischief.”

Great Zagruder-type analysis of the video. I appreciate it.
I agree. I just hope the constabulary sees it the same way.
I do believe that somewhere GG is a pro.
Not if you miss the target.
Accurate shot placement is the most important element in stopping a threat.
