Recently I heard a friend of mine echo the sentiment former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Rocker expressed in an interview with WND: I would vote for the devil himself over Barack Obama. People say this to make clear how deeply they abhor Obama and all his works. Sadly, for them and for America, their passionate hatred of Obama puts them exactly where the devil wants them to be. The Father of Lies chuckles with satisfaction. He gloats triumphantly at the fact that their hatred of his appearance in one form has maneuvered them into supporting his triumph in another.
I grieve deeply as I contemplate the fact that millions of Americans are letting themselves be caught in this diabolical snare. As I tried to point out in 2008, the lesser of evils is still evil. No matter how such an election turns out, people content to choose between Satan and Beelzebub have made clear their willingness to let things go to hell. Moreover, the nature of their choice is so clear to them that they practically boast of the passionate hatred that impels them to it. With this practical boast they become the willing, proud accomplices of the very evil they profess to hate.
Im morally certain this is why Christ admonished his disciples to make striving for Gods perfection the standard for their actions, rather than their hatred of evil. He thought it better to fail reaching for this standard than succeed by abandoning ones life to the devils dominion. He thought it better to fail in the worlds eyes while commending ones spirit to God (as he does on the cross) than succeed by casting ones lot with Gods adversary.
All this came to my mind this week as I read the excellent half-truths in David Limbaughs column

I’m done handicapping the race. Willard or hussein represent a disaster and voting for either is a suckers game: either one is a choice to lose. I’ll be voting third party.
But Oh! Oh! A third party can’t win!!
(But with our major party choices being what they are, why would I care?)
Since you are an admitted Democrat, no wonder you are here trying to reduce votes for the more conservative of the electable candidates!
Mittens is NOT a conservative, never has been, never will be.
Mittens signed a permanent gun ban in Mass.
He gave Mass homosexual marriage.
He also gave us OBAMACARE by way of Romneycare.
I also know RKBA Dem.
He’s what was once termed a Reagan Democrat.
Oh mindbender... mindbender.. where would the TBL trolls like their thorazine left?
The bible spells out explicitly what’s fit for a church leader. I hope the USA is not planning to be either a Christian or a Mormon church any time soon.
Badness in kings is described by example, not by prescription of the obverse. The entire concept of a worldly king was frowned upon by the Lord, because a fallen monarch could well and truly screw a nation up which was waiting upon that monarch’s every word, but the Lord acceded to Israel’s wishes as part of a plan to do larger things. This is why the US constitution was drawn up with its restraints on the powers of each part of the government. Which, incidentally, is something that Mitt has shown himself more likely to respect than Obama. Fault Mitt for being super-subservient to the Massachusetts supreme court if you wish, but that’s probably safer than how Obama just thumbed his nose at an entire US district that found Obamacare flatly unconstitutional. (If it was Bush in a situation like that, he would have had the decency to hold off on the plan till the USSC had visited it, hypothetically of course since Bush would never have signed off on anything like Obamacare.)
Gee, I can't imagine where anti-Romney conservatives ever got the notion that they could tell the GOP primary winner to stuff it.
Oh, that's right, I remember - in 2010, where the GOP-E did just that to Tea Party candidates who knocked off choice RINOs in primaries.
So anti-Romney FReepers did not start this precedent.
Oh, and BTW, your post is hardly in-line with my call for civility on both sides as your call your opponents screamers and being full of "eirrationality", whatever that is.
Triple secret, actually.
He knows when raccoonnookkeeper and I shared a computer. ‘coon got toasted forthwith. I got warned.
If he wants to fill a “Free Republic” website with Nyan Cats, not allowing Tac Nayn on board, that’s his business and nobody can “force” him to do otherwise. Being a devil’s advocate, but that can’t go on forever, there is no sense in it. A “free” republic can’t truly be doctrinaire; it has to allow room for errors to be aired and for discussion to correct those errors. And normally it does. But then there’s the hot button on Jim marked “Mitt.”
Setting the dog on fire. If it wasn’t cruel to the poor dog, that would be funny. Certainly makes it run around and bark.
Yeah. That's most likely what happened.
Jim: #188.
Honestly Jim, ‘Coon wasn’t trying to get a rise out of you.
‘Coon wanted to find out why Mitt was the “unvoteable vote.” I guess it is simply not in keeping with being conservative and there is only folly in seeking out detail. ‘Coon can accept that, and so can I.
Long time FReepers are either leaving or getting zotted by the few.
Is this going to be another bugzapper if there is even a little disagreement?
It happened with Rudy supporters, the Darwinites, the anti-Palins, with the TBL people and now again, some of the oldest members here are being removed at a frightening rate because they support ABO by supporting Mitt.
It's not the FR of the Clinton/Lewinsky, Rathergate, forum days any longer.

LOL! I once was a dem. Ancient history at this point, but when I signed up on FR I was a dem. Rather than lie about it, or be accused unjustly of trollery most foul, I simply made it part of my user name.
Well, I ditched the dems some years back. And with the immaculation came the purge of any vestiges of conservatism in the party. So my position now is that both major parties suck. Mightily.
As for my being a sleeper troll or some such, well, I’ve posted thousands of times on FR. I have no doubt that I would have ridden the lightining long ago if there was significant concern about my motivations.
Reading through the thread, I see a couple of others that are pushing the envelope regularly, so I expect to get a ping from you about them getting zotted before long.
Seems that some are still unable, or unwilling, to recognize that FreeRepublic is a private forum, and that it is a Conservative, not a Republican forum.
Added to those individuals are some who just seem to like to post hit-and-run snarks at Jim and FreeRepublic.
Sad to watch, but I guess it just goes with being on the "Innertoobs".
Pray for our nation, and have a good evening.
But it seems Plain to me that one will be chosen. IF that is my choice, I pick cancer; much better odds of remission, cure, and many more ways to fight it. A little gallows humor from someone almost 10 years cancer free.
I see it now, Jim.
RKBA, I’ve never been prevented from posting into about Virgil Goode. Sometimes I put it in the wrong sidebar and it gets moved around, but there’s never been any obstruction with posting or commenting.

RKBA, I’ve never been prevented from posting INFO about Virgil Goode. Sometimes I put it in the wrong sidebar and it gets moved around, but there’s never been any obstruction with posting or commenting.
Thanks xzins. Virgil and Gary are the only 2 candidates I’ve seen who are rock solid on RKBA.
Unfortunately, Gary is pro-choice/abortion. Therefore, I can’t support him.
