Recently I heard a friend of mine echo the sentiment former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Rocker expressed in an interview with WND: I would vote for the devil himself over Barack Obama. People say this to make clear how deeply they abhor Obama and all his works. Sadly, for them and for America, their passionate hatred of Obama puts them exactly where the devil wants them to be. The Father of Lies chuckles with satisfaction. He gloats triumphantly at the fact that their hatred of his appearance in one form has maneuvered them into supporting his triumph in another.
I grieve deeply as I contemplate the fact that millions of Americans are letting themselves be caught in this diabolical snare. As I tried to point out in 2008, the lesser of evils is still evil. No matter how such an election turns out, people content to choose between Satan and Beelzebub have made clear their willingness to let things go to hell. Moreover, the nature of their choice is so clear to them that they practically boast of the passionate hatred that impels them to it. With this practical boast they become the willing, proud accomplices of the very evil they profess to hate.
Im morally certain this is why Christ admonished his disciples to make striving for Gods perfection the standard for their actions, rather than their hatred of evil. He thought it better to fail reaching for this standard than succeed by abandoning ones life to the devils dominion. He thought it better to fail in the worlds eyes while commending ones spirit to God (as he does on the cross) than succeed by casting ones lot with Gods adversary.
All this came to my mind this week as I read the excellent half-truths in David Limbaughs column

Yes, nhoward14 is whining like a little girl about how he wanted tobe zotted and so far has not.
Every single one of them, all children.
And, once they do manage to get themselves banned, they retread to troll some more.
Ive never seen that defined in the context of the argument. All we have available in the political contests of this fallen world, and all that God sees, is sinners pitted against other sinners.
By that reckoning then, voting for the lesser evil is somehow righteousness in God's eyes?
That we're all sinners is fact. But making a choice for leadership is actually outlined in scripture in terms of what kind of person is FIT for an office.
We have no business voting for people who promote, espouse, support and act in favor of those things which are anathema God, to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
But we have arrived at the point where we do, and we are told that voting for this evil is better than the worser evil.
And the slide to oblivion simply accelerates.
And that is what the 'vote Romney' crowd is encouraging, out of fear of Obama, not even considering the fact that this whole election was an orchestration and we're all being played.
We lost already.
And like a dead man walking, we don't even realize it yet.
TBL is possessed by the obsessed...
Moles are unwelcome here.
If you think I will ever unite behind an abortionist statist, you’re crazier than a loon.
No. His will be a kinder, gentler Marxism that we will more slowly immerse ourselves in and call the destruction, destitution and division 'progress', because we will be told 'he's OUR devil and king, so it's all good now'.
But that concept is simply a pipe dream anyway. Romney's role is not to "Win" the election in November. It's to create the illusion we even had a choice in it.
Where have I once said that? I'm on your side about not supporting Romney, albeit for different reasons.
I just think the name-calling on both sides is getting out of hand. And that, no matter who wins, we will need conservatives united to fight to keep them in line - and the nature of these fights is doing little or nothing to further that cause.
how big an we told you so we conservatives will get with our brethren who bolted..
***Don’t hold your breath. When aRINOld was running for guvernator we were shouted down for supporting Tom McClintock. aRINOld acted exactly as we said he would. There’s been no apologies from that crowd, only 1 or 2 recants as far as I can tell. There is no ‘I told you so’ because the RINOs never live up to the damage they cause.
When faced with 2 evils I am inclined to pick the one I don’t know!
Just as longtime Freepers don’t like to be called Mittbot or Romneybot, other conservative, longtime Freepers don’t like to be called Obama supporters, told they are working for Obama or hearing the equally noxious argument that not voting for Mitt is a vote for Obama (the 0 + 0 = 1 argument).
Those are other forms of personal attack that we can do without.
The reality of the situation is this;
America cannot survive another 4 years of Obama, especially with his Czars, Executive Orders and no need to even try to do something rational to win reelection.
America can survive 4 years of Romney, if it has FR watching him, and if FR does not continue its descent into intemperate eirrationality. FR must regain its posture as the leading site of clear thinking Conservatives, not just screamers who continue to yell “My way or highway” to an increasing smaller group of serious people every day.
Volume or vehemence do not equal victory. Clear thinking that FR has always been known for does. I applaud your desire to return civility and common sense to this forum.
I. Do. Not. Care.
The ultimate dispensation of my own vote, however -- and their huffy, red-faced disapproval of same -- has demonstrably lead to my currently living, rent free, inside of their heads, 24/7.
One might wish for marginally less cramped quarters, certainly... and in an appreciably better neighborhood, to boot.
In answer to your question, I see willard being more successful in implementing his personal brand of socialism than hussein will be in implementing his. Because willard will have the passive acquiescence of the gop to rely on.
Part of the problem with willard is that we really don’t know what rabbit holes he’ll take us down. Obfuscation of his actual political views has risen to an art form.
“***That is not true. Folks who come onto a conservative website and try to separate conservatives from their conservative principles are not conservative. Theyre republicans, yes, but they are not conservative. Their purpose is to sow discord among conservatives, and they achieve that goal daily here on FR. If they were really conservative, theyd be focusing on the RINO squishes and mushy middle.”
I agree with you brother. There are still Romney supporters on this site that hide under the guise of ABOs. I think Dr. Keyes makes a pretty good case against the ABO position. I have repeatedly said the same thing...”You cannot fight evil with evil.”
Yup.
As I'm continually reminding other posters: I'm not a Republican; I'm a conservative. The Republican party never, ever gets to simply take my vote for granted -- they have to earn it, each and every time out, by running candidates whose views on the issues (as demonstrated by their previous track records, while in public office) reasonably align with my own... and I'm the only person on the face of the planet capable of judging whether or not they have, in fact, genuinely done so to my own satisfaction.
They didn't. I won't.
They can try a little harder next time out, if my vote is so supremely important to them (as I certainly do keep hearing, hereabouts).
So does that mean that I can post some articles or info summaries on Virgil Goode and some of the other 3rd party choices we have available to us?
Willard versus hussein is a suckers game. Either way we pick, we lose.
Ask xzins.
Where shall I leave the thorazine for the TBL trolls bothering us?
