I do not like the tone of the original post but I agree with the substance. I am not voting for Romney but I am voting against Obama. Pressure from the right will keep Mittens middle of the road. Four more years of Obama is flat out dangerous.
Wrong of the first part. Right on the second.
I'll vote for the man, but I am under no illusion that pressure from the right will have any appreciable effect. No more than it had on Bush in helping him find his veto pen.
No, you'll be voting for Romney. Voting "against" Obama is sophistry, sad to say, but it's true.
A vote can only ever be FOR something. You can't even vote "against" a proposition -- you either vote FOR passing it, or you vote FOR nixing it.
You can only vote "against" by voting FOR something to take its place. Rest assured -- you will be voting FOR Romney.
I'll be voting FOR a plurality to help deny a mandate to whichever bastard wins. I'll be voting third party: every third party vote cast will work toward denying a popular mandate for whichever authoritarian statist wins, Obama or Romney.
Another ABO who wants to have their cake and eat it too.
You people are really good at telling us what our vote 'means'. You say my third party vote isn't what it is -- you tell me it's a vote for 0bama rather than a vote for conservatism -- but you also say your vote is what it isn't. You say it's a vote against Obama, but that's not what your ballot says.
Be honest. It's a vote for Mitt Romney. Anything else is salving your conscience. Because you know you hate what you're doing.
