RUSH - Condoleezza Rice, Morality and Perspective [ spoke on sitting out election ]

RUSH:

I saw some stories about... Actually, I should more accurately say I saw blog posts speculating on what would happen to turnout. Some of them made the point that there really isn't a whole lot of turnout energy, that conservative turnout's kinda flapping away in the wind. And if Condoleezza Rice had happened to be the nominee, it could suppress turnout.

And I read that and it boggles my mind.

I could be dead wrong about it, bit when I see blog posts that conservative turnout is down because they hate Romney and are unhappy that Romney's the nominee, and conservatives are already thinking sitting it out and sitting at home?

And if Rice is the choice, that's bad?

I'm thinking, "What the hell is going on out there?" If that's true, if there are a bunch of you people sitting around there thinking you're not gonna vote 'cause Romney's the nominee and if he chooses Condoleezza it's over, then I have lost touch with you!

I have lost touch with you. I don't understand that at all.

If they fully implement Obamacare, it's not just babies in the womb that are gonna be killed! That's his point. So what does it matter?

Now, it matters because it's morality.

It matters, and you should never compromise your morality. But you do have to keep things in perspective. And you do have to have your eye on the big prize and what is going to enable you to have your morality prevail (or to have a chance to, at any rate).

But if there are people out there who are saying, "You know what? (grumbling) I don't like Romney so much and I'm thinking not voting,"

I don't know you.

I refuse to hold my nose again for a GOPe candidate. If they want my vote, they need to come to me.

Don't polish your ring waiting for them to come kiss it...

I find it amazing how so many got the Romney sickness so bad that even those they looked to for a boost and some common sense have become anathema to them. "No Romeny even if it kills us" is so stupid it hurts - do you think you're martyring yourself for Jesus if you manage to give Obama a second term? If so, please don't use the suicide vest that takes out everyone else with you.

“martyring for Jesus”? Cute phrase! Have a little respect for other’s ideas?
Isn’t it ironic that Romney is now getting from the Obama campaign exactly what Romney gave to his primary opponents?
The Bible warns us against laughing at others misfortunes, but somewhere it also says that “the Lord shall have them in derision” Lots of us warned that Romney would be an easy target for these kinds of Dem attacks, but money won out and he who has the most delegates wins! Oh, Wait! The Convention hasn’t been held yet.

Rush got it partly right when he said this: “What matters is Romney.”

Yup. It is about Romney. The problem is that he’s so secretive and has flip-flopped on so many issues, there really isn’t a whole lot to judge where he’s at right now. Then it comes out that he is thinking about nominating a pro-abort retread from the Bush administration. That’s not sounding good. You judge people not by their words but by their actions. So we’ll see what Willard does, but it isn’t looking pretty.

I haven’t made up my mind yet but I’m strongly tending toward the third party option in November. The Constitution Party has an excellent candidate in Virgil Goode, a fellow Virginian, who is rock solid on the 2nd Amendment and other issues that matter to me.

As for Rush, for someone who said he wasn’t going to carry the water for the gop I sure do see a whole lot of buckets being heaved.

You basically nailed it. Federal politics has devolved into a game of three card monte. And we’re the suckers.

Ever notice how the gop relies on this mantra that if you don’t vote for our candidate, then life as you know it will not continue? And how the candidates get progressively worse each time?

The state governorships and legislatures are what matter now. If you have the 20 minutes to spend, sure, go ahead and vote for president. But don’t delude yourself into thinking that the agenda for the candidates for either major party are really all that different.

I despise Romney’s liberalism, and I won’t vote for him, but there’s no way I’m sitting this out.

There is a real conservative in this race who stands for everything conservatives believe: Virgil Goode of the Constitution Party.

His principles are:

Life: For all human beings, from conception to natural death;

Liberty: Freedom of conscience and actions for the self-governed individual;

Family: One husband and one wife with their children as divinely instituted;

Property: Each individual’s right to own and steward personal property without government burden;

Constitution: and Bill of Rights interpreted according to the actual intent of the Founding Fathers;

States’ Rights: Everything not specifically delegated by the Constitution to the federal government, nor prohibited by the Constitution to the states, is reserved to the states or to the people;

American Sovereignty: American government committed to the protection of the borders, trade, and common defense of Americans, and not entangled in foreign alliances.

Precisely.

hamper it?? Do you think it is moral to lose more jobs and have more businesses go out of business if Obama is reelected? We will not survive with four more years of this destruction. At Least Romeny has the free enterprise ideals for heaven sakes!

Christ was making a broad point, meant to be disseminated to ALL through his disciples. All bets are off when mankind forgets who that God comes before all else. That doesn't mean one should worship God and not care about money. But money should not be worshiped in front of God. Our situation right now is a great example of what he was concerned about. I would guess that the biggest thing on voters minds when they see Romney is that he will save them money relative to Obama. They are willing to overlook even a candidate who is willing to let mothers destroy God's gift of life, and not trust that if we just do the right thing by our conscience, God will have our backs.

Interesting choice of words when you’re defending willfully choosing someone who would legalize the taking of an innocent babies life.

“At Least Romeny has the free enterprise ideals for heaven sakes!”

Romney was a “vulture captialist” not a businessman. Don’t confuse the two....Sam Walton was a “businessman” not Myth. Also, as Jim Robinson keeps pointing out. Romney is a big government “statist.” He is NOT about free enterprise...not really. He is about government control of everything....just not the Obamantation.

“I guess we are all supposed to believe you really meant to say: Serial monogamy”

Nope, I wrote “serial polygamy” and meant it. It is the practice of having multiple wives...but one at a time.

I don’t like taking Rush to the woodshed, but he is so very wrong on this issue.

Ha! That's a laugh!

“An Obama victory would continue in a campaign momentum to rid DC of Congressional GOP control.”

Obama’s abuse of office has already energized me to agressively look for a vote for and provide monetary support for the best conservatives for House and Senate. He did it in 2010...it will happen again this fall and in 2014. I don’t think it out of the realm of possibility that he could be impeached and found guilty in Senate IF we get the House and Senate stacked with conservatives. We MUST get separation of powers back in place.

Romney, being a “Republican”, will get away with “murder” (literally) and the GOP will NOT stand up to him. His presence in the POTUS chair ensures that conservatism will disappear. Romney being in office will cost us control of House and Senate in 2014....and Romney will move to the left not the right. He would be a disaster for conservative control of the country. He did a terrible job as Governor....what would lead one to think he would do any better as POTUS.

I’m voting third party for POTUS, to ensure that whoever wins (Obama or Romney) does NOT have a large enough vote to claim a mandate. Another Freeper reasoned that one out, and I’m following that lead.

“Bit of a stretch there, don’t you think?”

I was directly quoting Jim Robinson, the owner and founder of this site. IF you have a problem with that, have the guts to challenge him!

“And though some think Romney another sort of devil, he really IS our only choice to defeat Obama.”

Romney IS a devil. My “goal” is not to remove Obama, it is to establish conservatism. Romney WILL NOT DO THAT.

Plus, he is a liar, liberal, abortionist, homosexualist, and government statist....he is antithetical to conservative principles. Trying to eradicate Obama with Romney is akin to attempting to extinguish a fire using a flammable liquid instead of water. You don’t replace a liberal with another liberal. You just keep things bad, but in a more insidious way.

“Get over yourself!”

This IS NOT ABOUT ME. However, if we are going to make this an issue of “egos.” Rush has one of the worst in history. However, Rush is primarily an entertainer whose medium is politics. It is part of his personna he puts on behind the mic. I suspect in private he is not so bombastic.

One more thing....you felt compeled to respond to the “woodshed” remark. It got your attention....although was not my intention. So, apparently you are listening, even IF you disagree. That is a start in the right direction. Not for me, but for your redemption from insanity. The first step is getting someone to bother to read or listen.

Whatever, there are some really smart, true conservatives, on this forum. I am trully conservative, but not one of the smartest by far.

Well, I think you guessed wrong. Obama will destroy every aspect of Americana; religion, Constitution, society, economy.

But you may be right...if "the voters" actually have minds.

the Republicans have a much better plan to involve the government in unconstitutional activity.

I doubt that it's unConstitutional. Go read HR3000.
