A new survey finds that 80 million Americans, or 36 percent of the population, believe UFOs are real. One in 10 respondents say they have personally witnessed an alien spaceship. And if aliens were to invade the country sometime in the next four years, 65 percent of survey respondents said President Obama would be better suited for handling the invasion than Republican presidential candidate Romney.
The market research company Kelton Research conducted the survey by polling a random nationwide sample of 1,114 Americans ages 18 and older, who were representative of the demographics of the nation as a whole. The survey was commissioned by the National Geographic Channel to promote its new series "Chasing UFOs."
To the question of whether they believe aliens have visited Earth, 36 percent of Americans who were surveyed said they do, 48 percent aren't sure, and 17 percent said they don't believe so. More than three in four Americans (77 percent) think there are signs that suggest aliens have visited the Earth, whether or not they've made up their minds about the question.
The results align with other modern studies of UFO belief. For example, a 2008 survey of 1,003 adult Americans conducted by Scripps Howard News Service and Ohio University also found that a third of adults believe it's either very likely or somewhat likely that intelligent aliens from space have visited our planet. One in 12 said they had personally seen a mysterious object in the sky that they thought might have been an alien spaceship.
More surprisingly, the new NatGeo survey found that a whopping 79 percent of people think the government has kept information about UFOs a secret from the public, and more than half (55 percent) believe there are real-life "Men in Black"-style agents who threaten people who spot UFOs.

1/3 huh? Well, that Would explain how Zero got 53% of the popular vote even After he warned us all what he was going to do when he was campaigning.
Like someone said here, in their tag-line.
You need photo ID to buy Drano but not to vote?
Obama is more likely a space alien than he is an American citizen. People may be right in thinking he could do a better job handling space aliens, but the question is what kind of handling he would do. Be wary of putting nasty, little faggots in charge of things.
In a practical sense, there just cannot be aliens zipping around in “normal space” in any sense of the word.
Just to get to the nearest star to our sun, Proxima Centauri, is 4.2 light years away. To get there in three weeks, someone would need to travel at 64 times the speed of light. The closest star that comes even theoretically close to maybe having a habitable planet is Gliese 581g, at over 20 light years away.
This means that space aliens would almost have to travel via an “alternative space”, where relative distances are much less.
he is definitely a cultural alien.
Why don't 100% of Americans believe in UFOs? I do.
There are a great many Objects that are seen Flying about and they are also Unidentified.
Now, if the survey asked about alien spacecraft, then the numbers make more sense.
Most people believe in everything, just a little bit.
The other night as I was waiting for sleep I tried to imagine the immensity of space. I imagined flying past uncountable galaxies as far as you could see.
Then I thought, try to imagine not the scale of galaxies but at the scale of me. For a fraction of an instant I succeeded.
It about precipitated a panic attack. It felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest and I a hundred feelings I can’t express went thought me.
I quickly went back to the galaxy scaled imagining. The raw reality of the size of the universe is too much for our limited psyches to accept.
UFOs are absolutely, 100% real.
The rub is most of them are easily explained as hoaxes, Venus, the Moon, clouds, helium balloons, weather balloons, blimps, and other ordinary aircraft seen under unusual conditions.
Somewhere around 5% remain unexplained even when very high quality data is available. That 5%, and the publics general gullibility, fuels the mystery.
So, are they aliens? I kind of doubt it but I suppose it’s possible. More likely the true unexplained are secret military projects inadvertently exposed to the public eye.
He’s an alien from either Kenya or Uranus so he can relate.
“I imagined flying past uncountable galaxies “
You must have been traveling at ludicrous speed.
That's three weeks our time. It could be done in three weeks of subjective time, i.e. three weeks of time as measured from the spacecraft, at a much lower rate of speed... some large percentage of C. I've forgotten how to run the Lorentz equations to figure it exactly, but it can be done.
When aliens from Kenya strike. Run! It’s the end of the country.
No, 46 percent are not sure. 17 percent do not.
In America we make a fist with our thumb sticking out to indicate we want a ride. In Iran this means ‘’F You’’.
Even better!
So let's all give a big "thumbs up" to Iran's "peaceful" nuclear energy program!
