In case anyone is watching this is nothing other than Romney trying to change the narrative. The Romney boat is taking on water. The pumps can’t keep up.

We all agree ( I think ) that the one issue that Romney can and needs to win on is the economy. The Bain attacks, which were previewed during the primaries, are devastating. Politics 101, attack your competitors strength and make it a weakness. Obama in 07 destroyed McCain on foreign policy and at the end polled better on the subject. Bain was Romney’s strength. He is a business man and will turn economy. What has happened? A pew poll today asked the question. Last month Romney up 8 on economy. Today down 7. Regardless of what the truth is Romney has no answers and is being killed. Ads in swing states have moved polls. It has only got worse. This campaign could already be over. VP? Hell what conservative wants to board the titanic?

Old saying in golf, can’t win tournament on Thurseday but can certainly lose it. I am pretty well convinced Obama was given another term in the primaries when this idiot was coranated. He is a lousy campaigner and the Dems are taking him apart. Just my opinion although factually based by polling.

Rasmussen: Bain attacks not working

"Will the strategy of highlighting Mitt Romney’s track record at Bain Capital do more to damage the Republican nominee, or Barack Obama? A poll by Rasmussen suggests that it might do more damage to Obama’s re-election efforts than it will to his challenger. Only 33% of a sample of 1,000 likely voters say that Romney’s record at Bain was a reason to vote against him, while 44% believe it boosts his candidacy"

If one buys into the polls you are, I assure you that any other candidate that was in the Republican primaries would be doing much, much worse than Romney right now.

This just in: Bain attack still not working

"Two analyses from the flawed WaPo/ABC poll, as well as spending in swing states, deliver grim news to Team Obama this morning. Their main line of attack in which they hope to paint Mitt Romney as an uber-rich vampire capitalist clearly isn’t moving the needle among voters — and that’s true despite an overwhelming spending advantage Barack Obama has enjoyed in the early going. Unless they can come up with a better argument, Romney’s fundraising will shortly put them in a very big hole."

"For all the attention paid to the effectiveness of President Obama’s Bain-themed attacks, it’s remarkable how Obama has been stuck right around 47 percent for a very long time. As the Washington Post‘s Chris Cillizza documented, the president’s team has handily outspent Romney and his allied super PACs, pouring in $91 million into eight swing states in an early spending barrage intended to make Romney seem an unacceptable challenger. But for all that effort, the numbers haven’t moved much at all: The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll out today shows the race deadlocked at 47 percent. Yesterday’s USA Today/Gallup swing state poll showed Obama statistically tied with Romney, the exact same result the survey showed one month ago...Even the WaPo/ABC poll shows that half of voters don’t care, and only 24% in a sample with 33% being Democrats think it constitutes a reason to vote against Romney. If that’s the best option for Obama, he’s in deep trouble."

all good points, but i disagree with you that Obama destroyed McCain on foreign policy.

McCain did much better vs Obama on terrorism and natl security in 08 than Bush did vs Kerry in 04(+73 vs +60).

Obama did beat McCain on the Iraq War(although by a far smaller margin +20). but I’d say that was more anti-Bush than pro-Obama or anti-McCain.

In any event foriegn policy wasn’t a factor in 2008. It was all about the economy.

edit

looks li recalled the xit poll #s wrong.

Bush beat Kerry on terrorism 86-14. McCain beat Obama on terrorism 86-13. So McCain did a tad better.

McCain actually did better on the economy as well. Kerry beat Bush 80-18 on the economy. Obama only beat Mccain by 53-44.

The difference was that in 04 only 20% of voters said the economy was their main issue vs 41% for terrorism and moral values and in 08 63% said the economy was vs 9% for terrorism and moral values.
