I cannot stand anything which weakens our border, but why on earth is there a BORDER patrol station in Amarillo??
Having driven to the border a few times from here in San Antonio, coming home, without even leaving the country, you have to pass through a checkpoint. Why? I did not leave the country, let alone the state. Checkpoints/inland border patrol stations are pointless abuses of power. Stop them at the border with a secured fence, not 50-300 miles inland...

why on earth is there a BORDER patrol station in Amarillo?? The answer is Interstate 40, smugglers/coyotes use I 40 to distribute illegals (and drugs of course) throughout the country. Main function of Border Patrol in Amarillo is when vehicle loads of illegals are caught on the interstate they can be turned over to BP for processing. If the Amarillo station is closed when LEO get a group of illegals they will have to wait for BP to come from elsewhere. Of course what will likely happen is BP won't be able to come from elsewhere so illegals will have to be released. This is part of the Obama amnesty plan.
