We were quite rough on the greenies. They were very upset with us. We got threats from Earth First, Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund, ALF/ELF and a few others. Time Magazine really ripped me/us in their 97 or 98 Earth Day issue after we cost one group 6 figures in funding.
But one can only be intimidated if one allows themselves to be intimidated. Laz pointed that out perfectly.

I hate people being driven off, except true toxic avengers and disruptors like old timers billy paul, the Dreaded Eschoir (Hi, Tom!) or, of course, anyone who calls Sarah a RINO, because after all is said and done, we need EVERYONE to fight what is coming. We will never all agree, but I can't believe the country will be saved if everyone runs to the group that pets them the sweetest.
We can't afford ego-driven defiance, pettiness or purity check lists.
I'm hoping that sometime soon everyone will come home to FR and be welcomed as family so the Left will feel and remember our bite.
Jim's finances, no matter where or how he receives them, are NOBODY'S business! Two groups deserve every cent they make (and more!)...farmers and the Robinsons. And people who called FR home for years, should be allowed to rejoin the fight without being called a "statist" and threatened when they get pissy.
I miss Free Republic.
Story time: Guy's an alcoholic, and falls into a deep pit. The sides are sheer, there's no footholds. He stays in there for a few hours.
A doctor comes along. The man sees him, and yells, "DOCTOR! Help! I'm in this pit! Help me out!"
The doctor replies, "Can't do anything about the pit, but here's something for your twisted ankle and something for your depression." A piece of prescription paper flutters down.
A few hours pass. A man of God, a preacher, walks by. The man sees him, and yells, "PREACHER! I'm in this pit! Help me out!"
The Preacher looks in, and says, "I'm sorry, son. I can't get you out. But I will pray for you, nonstop!"
A few more hours pass. An alcoholic in recovery walks by. The man sees him, and yells, "MISTER! Help! I'm in this pit! Help me out!"
The recovering alcoholic takes one look, and jumps right in.
The first man says, "What did you do that for? Now we're both in here!"
The recovering alcoholic says, "Yes we are. But I know the way out...."

There have been lots of alternative sites and they have always been started by people who were, first, devastated and then embittered. I've been invited to all of them. I understand the hurt behind them, but I've never been discouraged enough to abandon FR.
I love BobJ. He and Jim were like brothers and he was one of my first friends here before people had to register to post. I guess I was out of the country when they fell out and it looks to be permanent. I can't believe things have degenerated like this.

It seems to me that things degenerated because people can’t A: follow site rules, B: think they have ‘freedom of speech’ on a privately owned website and C: think their donations or mere presence allows them to call the shots over what goes on here.
And then someone like you comes along complaining that the poor and downtrodden are somehow justified in their actions.
It’s simple. Just like a bar or business club or any other group. You stay because you want to and follow the rules. Or you don’t.
But acting like catty schoolgirls here, on TBL or anywhere else is anything but adult, rational or likely to get people what they want.
