I can answer your question. When she got pregnant she was living in Hawaii. At that time, there were very few black men in Hawaii, and probably Davis and Obama were the only two known to her. The evidence implies she got pregnant by Frank Davis. (He took about ten photographs of her naked in Nov/Dec of 1960, which is right at the time she became pregnant.)
Once she realized she had gotten pregnant, she had to hide from her Father the fact that she was having sex with his best friend. The ONLY black man she knew other than Davis was Barack Obama sr. Davis was also at risk of having her father go ape-sh*t on him and accusing him of raping a minor, or getting him into some other serious trouble with the police.
Both of them had good reason to not want Davis identified as the father. I think Davis offered Barack Obama money, and Stanley offered him sex, if he agreed to pretend to be the baby's daddy.
He didn't give a crap. Free money, free sex? "Sure, Why not?" So to answer your question, Obama was the preferred father because he distracted attention away from the real father, who had a lot to lose (possibly his freedom.) if he was identified as such. (A Black man accused of raping (statutory rape) a white girl in 1960? What do you think?)
I will further point out that Barry came back to Hawaii sometime around 1970, and Frank Davis got divorced in 1970. As Grandpa Dunham probably brought Barry Soetoro over to Uncle Frank's house, it must not have taken Frank's wife (Helen Canfield) very long to figure out that Frank must have been humping Stanley Ann ten years earlier.

Stanley would probably not have been happy about this, but I don't believe he was the uptight guy you paint him as.
Davis and his wife were swingers. In Davis' book, he talks about another couple who came to Hawaii from the Pacific Northwest and with whom they swung.
I think this other swinging couple may have been in reality Stanley and Madelyn Dunham. He changed a few minor details about them, but given how close they were it would make sense that Stanley and Madelyn were also leftwing radicals and swingers like Davis and his wife.
Also, your theory about Stanley or Stanley Ann slipping Obama Sr. a few bills in order to pretend to be the father makes no sense.
At the time he was at U of H Barack Obama Sr. looked forward to a future in which in his mind he would be one of the leaders of his country, maybe even the president. He was doing well in his study of economics and from all accounts was possessed of a big ego.
It is just nonsense to think that this guy who had the highest opinion of himself and planned to go back to Kenya and lead his country would get permanently entangled in some local girl's problem by accepting a few bills to pretend to be the father of her baby by someone else.
And we KNOW he was a playboy and that Stanley Ann was attracted to him. It seems an open-and-shut case that they would have hooked up.
