It's NOT going to happen. Romney will NOT be dropped in the convention and every effort to do so only undermines his ultimate candidacy and gives advantage to Obama.
It's time to "man-up" and face the fact that Romney is the nominee. He has received the votes he needs to be the Republican nominee. Conservatives failed both to present a genuinely compelling competent candidate and to present a compelling argument to voters and they chose Romney. I hardly think it is the place of convention delegates to insert their own preferences over those of the people who elected them without a genuinely compelling reason--such as some unforeseen disaster--not simply, out of pique at his not being "conservative enough." The Republican voters spoke. That's an end to it.
It is also time to "man-up" about our own culpability in Romney's victory. Rather than focusing on one good conservative, we (at least some of us) spent far too much time vilifying all the other conservative candidates except our personal favorite.
Look at the instant broad-based attacks on this forum against Perry--abject hatred from day one. The same happened to Cain, Gingrich, Romney, Bachmann, everyone. When you pre-select one candidate and become so emotionally attached to him, then your natural instinct is to attack everyone who is running against him. That is why I never endorsed one single candidate during the primaries (though certainly I had favorites at different times) and made an effort to defend them against what I perceived as "unfair" or dishonest attacks (though certainly I am as guilty as the rest of us in some cases).
Conservatives set up a circular firing squad and as a result gave Romney the field by default.
Time to move past it and get behind Romney--the consequences are far too dire should Obama be reelected. Romney's far from perfect, but he is at least that far better than the alternative.

Team Romney’s plot to ban Sarah Palin from a speaking role at the convention is petty, pathetic and cowardly. What are they afraid of?

Time to move past it and get behind Romney You go right on ahead and get behind him. I won't, and therefore will avoid his putrid green road pies that he drops along the way.
