Fortunately, most of our parades were on a grass field, so at least when people keeled over they didn’t hit concrete or metal (as in a ship’s deck).

A couple of guys from my squadron passed out before one of the Saturday morning parades, standing in that blazing Philippine sun. The whole thing was on grass at the pre-WW2 parade ground at Clark AB.
