There were 10 days of temperatures above 90 °F (32 °C) with 90 percent humidity. The temperatures did not drop at night. It caused more deaths (1,500+) than the 1863 New York City draft riots or the 1871 Great Chicago Fire.
Hmmm, is this an indicator of Global Warming? Considering this was a description of the US East Coast Heat Wave of 1896, it probably predates the global fossil fuel usage.
