How Liberals Win
At the national level, liberals win through the lack of courage and the lack of commitment to principle by the Beltway GOP. The closest things we have to champions of conservatism in Washington are people who act like the unpopular kids in high school, pathetically eager to throw away what they know to be correct in order to gain favor with the cool kids - which in Washington are the gaggle of statists in elected posts and the members of the MSM who do their PR.
Words can't express the disgust I feel over Roberts' willingness to torture logic and the Constitution to keep the liberal establishment from calling him and the Supreme Court a few nasty names.
It's overwhelmingly clear that a new way, a new party is needed. The GOP is a failure. Something new has to arise from the energy and passion of the Tea Party. Failing that, I'm prepared to vote Libertarian - maybe those guys will stick by their stated principles for limited government once they get into office.

Failing that, I'm prepared to vote Libertarian - maybe those guys will stick by their stated principles for limited government once they get into office. I'd be thrilled to vote Libertarian for a Congressional seat. But I won't waste a vote for a Gary Johnson or Ron Paul just to make a point. The consequences of that are unacceptable.
And I do wish that the Libertarian political philosophy had more cache, and that the drug legalization issue wasn't made out to be a pillar of Libertarianism, because it isn't. It's employed as a wedge issue by the GOP and Rats alike, and latched onto and championed by some of society's unfortunates. The grander issues of personal liberty and indv property rights and freedom from arbitrary government rule get almost lost in its wake.

I’m afraid that you are correct. I am sorry to be so cynical, but I am afraid that the Congressional Republicans are going to make a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing leading up to the election, and then start finding ways to tinker around the edges of Obamacare, if that. What expansion of government in recent history have they successfully opposed? These expansions wind up being untouchable and permanent.

libertarians as a party have been taken over by delusional pot heads. literally.
The best answer is to seed conservatives in the GOP and even the dems and ostracise the communists. make the reds red again.
