So why are you avoiding it? The truth about Romney came straight out of his own mouth in Massachusetts.

Jim, this is an old, oft-repeated conversation, and you are deliberately not addressing the real issues of today.

I am not avoiding the truth. I am speaking directly and plainly. I'm afraid the same cannot be said about you.

It is almost certainly the case that either Romney or Obama will be President from 2013 to 2017. Between the two some prefer Romney, some prefer Obama, and some are genuinely indifferent.

I prefer Romney.

I am as smart, and well-informed, and realistic as just about anyone on this forum. I am well aware of the shape-shifting nature of our GOP nominee. But by my estimation America will be better served by a Romney first term than by an Obama second term.

Many on this site prefer that of the two, Obama win the election in November. I think this is likely your preference as well, but you have not chosen to state your preference.

Much of the campaigning for Obama that is being done here on FR these days is conducted in a way that I have thought to be irrational and dishonest. I have never found fault with anyone for preferring that Obama be re-elected in November, but I have objected strenuously to the unreason and falsehood contained in so many of the pro-Obama posts. Now, since the USSC Obamacare decision, we have the added elements of nihilism and despair in the mix. Well, I am opposed to these attitudes as well, and I forthrightly have said so and explained why on this thread.

The bottom line is that unreason, falsehood, nihilism, and despair are all perfectly antithetical to conservatism. Yet this once-conservative site is now a hotbed of these abhorent qualities.

It is still a good place to read the news, but there used to be an ethic of embodying conservatism, building community, and facilitating activism that is now lost. For example, since the USSC decision Thursday there has been a sharp upsurge in tea party movement activity nationwide, but not here on FR.

That is telling.

This is where you and I part company. I thought we were discussing MarkAmerica’s spiel that opened this thread, not discussing Romney at all.

You prefer Romney over Obama. I prefer neither. I absolutely will not support an abortionist/homosexualist statist for the presidency. Period.

That’s the plain truth as clear as I can state it.

You know, claiming that people who state that they won't vote for Romney are campaigning for Obama is equivalent to claiming that people who state that they will vote for Romney are campaigning for abortion.

Surely, your mind is subtle enough to grasp that one can be opposed to both Romney and Obama, especially since (as you were reminded by those videos) Romney and Obama agree about most everything important.

One more time for those of you in or near Rio Linda:

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our BORDERS, our constitution and our national sovereignty.

Free Republic is private property. It is not a government project, nor is it funded by government or taxpayer money. We are not a publicly owned entity nor are we an IRS tax-free non-profit organization. We pay all applicable taxes on our income. We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity. We sell no merchandise, product or service, and we offer no subscriptions or paid memberships. We accept no paid advertising or promotions. We are funded solely by donations (non tax deductible gifts) from our readers and participants.

We aggressively defend our God-given and first amendment guaranteed rights to free speech, free press, free religion, and FREEDOM of ASSOCIATION, as well as our constitutional right to control the use and content of our own personal private property. Despite the wailing of the liberal trolls and other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them a platform to promote their repugnant and obnoxious propaganda from our forum. Free Republic is NOT a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our GOD-GIVEN rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of Life.

Our God-given Life, Liberty and freedoms are NOT negotiable!!

For God, Family, Country, Life and Liberty!!

Romney is NONE of the above. He is not the solution. He’s part of the problem. Been there, done that.

Either prove it Rogue Yam or drop this line of duplicitous attack.

Prove the lies you just posted by going through the posting history of the Freepers you have implied are doing this type of crap and post the proof.

Do you really actually think that, aside from a very few newbie trolls, there are any freepers campaigning for Obama?

I mean really, how is that even logical? Do we see opposition to having Romney on the platform the same as being an active Obama fan? That is fallacy born and embraced out of desperation.

I would think that a reasoned person would see that neither man is preferred over the other by those here.

I know it sounds good for those who inside are conflicted with their support of Mitt to lash out irrationally at the rest of us who are still standing by conservative values in order to try and shame them into joining their numbers, misery loves company and all. But there will be many of us who will continue to make noise down to the wire. Many of us who do not even remotely share your faith in Romney's new found conservatism. Many who see the possibility of Romney, the father of Romneycare, with a Republican congress unwilling to go against a sitting Republican in the White House, to be problematic at best.

What will folks do when that dreaded day comes in November? What will they do when the inevitable choice is Obama and Romney? I do not know for sure but I can damn sure tell you there is not a single legitimate person on FreeRepublic that will pull the lever for Obama.

Accusing Freepers of doing such, of supporting such is stupid, foolish, desperate, ignorant and unbecoming of a conservative worthy of the term.

Rogue Yam:

What you have not done is to address the film posted at #169 by JimRob showing Romney's unbroken track record of political heresies on the babies, guns, Ronaldus Maximus, global BS "warming," desire to tell our enemies in WAR when we are leaving so that they can wait to slaughter our allies without further interference, TARP, Porkulus, etc., etc., etc.

AND THEN, you have the unmitigated gall to make believe that the only actual issue in 2012 is your Captain Ahab imitation chasing Obozo in his role as the Great Whale. Remember what happened to Ahab.

AND THEN, for the piece de resistance of the heresies you share with Myth Romney and his brainless, spineless ABO love slaves, you come on here and accuse JimRob (on his own web site no less) of being a secret Obozo supporter AND of refusing to address your ABO obsession, which he certainly did in the primaries and ever since. See JR's #169 and #227 and #230.

AND FINALLY, you play make believe that the Tea Party exists to join YOU and others like you in the great Whale hunt.

BTW, when you have to engage in self-praise as though you were "as smart and well-informed and realistic as just about anyone on this forum," etc., it really gets pathetic. ANYONE who whines about his/her opinion being as good as anyone else's is inevitably wrong and it is an embarrassing excuse for an argument. Your chosen position stands or falls on its own and not upon your obviously inflated self-praise or hallucinations of competence.

Anyone not in an advanced state of despair but also an advanced state of rage over a "choice" between Obozo the Original and Obozo in whiteface has NO BUSINESS calling him/herself "conservative," "pro-life," "pro-family," "pro-military," "pro-fiscal responsibility," "pro-gun rights," or "pro-American."

If you are soooooo disappointed with this website, then don't let the door hit you in the backside as you flee in terror to DU or HP where you belong.

What is REALLY "telling" is your utter inability or refusal to oppose BOTH major party POS candidates who are BOTH enemies of the USA, Western Civilization, the Judaeo-Christian ethic and anything and everything worth supporting. Apparently, Myth Romney's apparent trustworthiness to protect Muffy's trust fund uber alles is enough for you.

If your POS wins, you should consider vacating FR immediately because you will be deemed responsible for his each and every heresy in office. Lay in an infinite supply of asbestos undies, FRiend, because you will need them. Pass the advice to your fellow Mythbots.

I had thought LSD had long since gone out of style and then I read your #216.
