Whether or not you wanted to vomit is irrelevant. This was an insulting and demeaning verbal assault by these kids. Kids at times engage in disgusting pack behavior, but insulting someone with words is just not one of the more severe forms of misbehavior.
Get as emotional as you care to, but a years suspension and reform school is far too severe for what these kids did. It is an overreaction to the youtube sensation and cowardly playing to the mob on the part of the school officials.
This likely wasn’t just a wild hair. I’d have crafted it differently perhaps, but the reform school is there for a purpose including keeping the brats under a microscope.
I grew up at a time in America where “pack behavior” was physically punished by tough-as-nails nuns and the no-nonsense, working-class parents of my childhood. The boys of my day wouldn’t even have understood the filth coming out of these brats’ mouths. And that was the 1960s!
