We DO NOT need two Yankees on the Presidential ticket. A Romney-Christie ticket fits the stereotypes of Northeasterners south of the Potomac ans west of the Alleghenies: the country club, Ivy League educated type (Romney) and someone who looks and sounds like a character from the Sopranos (Christie). If the GOP wants to win Ohio, Missouri, Colorado, New Mexico, Virginia, North Carolina, and Virginia, this ticket won't work. It may help the GOP in southeast Florida and the Philadelphia area, but you could get a similar bounce with Rubio, who is not a Yankee.

Rubio would provide a good bounce, I agree, but it doesn’t change the fact he is unqualified. I honestly think Jindal is the best candidate.

If the GOP wanted to win, they probably could do very nicely with a Gary Johnson / Ron Paul ticket.
Neither of them are the "ideal" candidate, but such a ticket would signal the GOP is serious about the economy and about reigning in government. Johnson in particular was a good enough Governor to get reelected in NM when it was heavily Democrat, and by a fair margin. Ron Paul, well, him being VP would be signaling that we really do need to be responsible with our spending. (Hell, if I were in charge I'd put him as head of the Fed just to watch people's heads explode.)

I was thinking much the same thing. I like Christie a whole bunch as NJ’s Governor, but I think he’d be a bad choice as VP for exactly the reasons you’ve stated.
