100,000 American kids get lured into prostitution every yearNote that the report doesn't say they become full-time prostitutes. I've seen reports to the effect that approximately 90% of runaway teenage girls commit at least one act of prostitution.
As long as you start thinking of adding in those runaways - boys and girls - who give sex for food, shelter, or bus money, I can see how the 100,000 figure is realistic.

From a story on sex trafficking in Atlanta, which has been presented as the hub of sex trafficking in the U.S. for the last decade or so:
"An estimated 1.6 million children run away from home each year in the United States. The average time it takes before a trafficker or a solicitor approaches a runaway is only 48 hours."

100,000 (across the country) sounds pretty believable to me.
And I know you're not saying that "it doesn't count" (?) if a 12 yr old "only does it once or twice". Are you?
