Presidential candidates rarely spell out their plans as specifically as Ryan has, and while Romney has said he'd vote for the Paul plan if he was in Congress, he still has the wiggle room to distance himself from any component of it.
For this reason, picking Ryan would demonstrate the kind of political courage that many have criticized Romney for lacking.
I believe that the time is long past for our party to get serious about fiscal conservatism.
Having Ryan on the ticket would force the election to be about this most important issue.
