Im reliably informed that Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, the Budget Committee chairman, has submitted paperwork to the Romney campaign. Sources confirm that he is being vetted for the vice-presidential nomination.
Ryan, one of the GOPs brightest young stars, is clearly a favorite of Romney allies. But some top Republican officials are wary of plucking him from the House, where he is the partys most influential voice on fiscal issues.
Earlier this week, Romney campaigned with Ryan in Janesville, Wis., Ryans hometown. Ryan previously stumped for Romney in late March and early April, ahead of Wisconsins Republican presidential primary.
Thanks.
Slightly OT, but I hope to be able to add Eric Hovde or Jeff Fitzgerald to my list as Jr. Senator from the great state of WI!!
I'd almost be tempted to believe that too, except for the fact that Nancy Pelosi has the intellectual acuity of a rubber doorstop.
Rience Priebus? say what?
“IMHO, the running mate will be either Rob Portman or Tim Pawlenty.”
“Rience Priebus”.. What’s in a name? Endless humiliation! His parents should be tarred and feathered for giving him this name.
“Paul Ryan is a very bold choice.
IMHO, the running mate will be either Rob Portman or Tim Pawlenty.”
I agree Ryan would be a bold choice, but I think it would be a mistake to pull him from the House. Portman or Pawlenty may be less bold/exciting/charismatic, but Portman in particular knows the budget inside/out/backwards and could easily be tasked with entitlement/budget reform, working hand-in-glove with Ryan on the House side and his Senate colleagues to get it done. In the latter regard he actually has a leg up on Ryan.
Imagine Ryan in a debate against dumbo Biden. LOL
I say no. We need Ryan in Congress where he can make a difference. We lose his ability to change things if he becomes VP. As VP he loses any power to push the Conservative adgenda.
Romney needs to surround himself with people with rock-solid conservative reputations in order to achieve some credibility with the conservative base. Rubio's statements on illegal immigrants disqualifies him.
Make fun of Priebus if you will, but he orchestrated the great Republican Wave that allowed Scott Walker to succeed and survive his recall....he is an expert at the grass roots organizing that wins elections.
I honestly don't think there is any public policy debate that I would rather have between now and November than a discussion of the future solvency of the Medicare and Social Security programs.
I say bring it on.
The facts are on our side, something must be done, and the 'Rats are at the bottom of a very deep hole having so explicitly denied the existence of a problem for so long.
America has never been more in need of, or more receptive to, arguments that entitlement programs are bankrupt and need to be reformulated. New Jersey, New York, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, San Jose, San Diego, reform is coming. It is wining in legislatures and it is winning at the ballot box. This is what the tea party was founded to promote.
Let us not shrink in fear but rather seize the moment and lead!
Anybody but Rubio. What a sellout. He puts ethnicity above all else. Shameful.
“True. Soros probably considers her a useful idiot.”
Come on Laz....concubines do have a use;-)
It is not uncommon for people to say this but I have always thought it untrue.
What about Dick Cheney?
Yes, the orders ultimately come from the President but if the VP holds meetings and conducts discussions and negotiations on the President's behalf then he is making a huge contribution.
The President is just one man and the federal government is huge. Having an experienced Congressman as VP participating with GOP Congressional leaders in drafting legislation to reform the tax code and the entitlement programs sounds like a big plus to me.
Will Jeri Ryan be part of the vetting process ?
Haven’t seen Jeri in a while. I would prefer to not tarnish my teenage memories of her.
