“...nobody cares about the issue anymore...”
So what in your opinion is worthy of discussion? American Idol?
Things worthy of dicussions are things that have a chance of happening or actually affecting something. I don’t see the point of living in an idealized fantasyland.
The idea that Obama would be removed from office before November, or removed from the ballot, is a delusional fantasy. That’s completely removed from the issue of whether he SHOULD be, it’s simply a reality of the current political structure and climate of the country (the “country” being a different entity than a group of conservative message boards and blogs).
It’s 1,000 times more a delusional fantasy that if Obama loses (which he probably will) that the issue would still be actually pursued afterwards, that judges that had been appointed by Obama would be removed, etc.
And I remain absolutely convinced that the average Birther, deep down (and they’d never admit it) would be disappointed if Obama simply lost the election, and would prefer that he win, so they can maintain the fantasy of his later removal from office due to legal action.
And as I’ve of course observed before, the Birther issue is completely worthless on the POLITICAL side (in terms of persuading people not to vote for Obama) because they only people that take it seriously are people that already didn’t vote for him in 2008 and certainly aren’t going to in 2012.
ANYONE who voted for Obama in 2008 considers birthers a bunch of kooks and no new evidence of any sort will change that. If they vote for Romney in 2012, it will because of the economy, etc., not because they doubt his legal status to be President.
