So much for Hollywood's days of the sweeping Biblical epic.
Director/author Paul Verhoeven has announced he's found the financial backing to produce a film on the Christian Messiah that will contend that Jesus was just a good politician, one born after his mother was raped by a Roman soldier, but a man most certainly not the Son of God.
Verhoeven, most famous for having brought movie goers the 1987 smash "RoboCop," is looking to begin filming his newest flick based on his own book, "Jesus Of Nazareth."
That 2008 book dismisses the Bible's chronicling of miracles performed by Jesus Christ, not to mention asserting that Jesus' birth was less than immaculate. The book suggests Jesus was the result of Mary being raped by a Roman Centurion. Verhoeven also claims to debunk the fact that Judas Iscariot -- one of the Twelve Disciples -- betrayed Jesus to Roman authorities just previous to the crucifixion.

actually he is mocking islam prophet, Jesus as well. I bet he didn’t know this. Islam is a derivative of the Judaism
Now THAT is nonsense. Prove that Alexander The Great lived. We actually have more and more recent witness testimony of Jesus than of Alexander The Great. If you slide scales to allow Alexander lived, how much more should one believe Jesus lived. And with the mountain of witness testimony to His resurrection, well, you have to change the scales in mid-comparison to reject the testimonies.
In the 1970s there was a film made called Mohommed, Messenger of God. You can read about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad,_Messenger_of_God
The producers bent over backwards to show respect to Islamic beliefs and there was no depiction of mad mo or even a voice. Didn’t matter because it led to this hostage taking and murder in Washington DC which almost killed Marion Barry before his more infamous years ahead. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1977_Hanafi_Muslim_Siege
That would
be C.S. Lewis, the Lord, Liar, or Lunatic argument.
. . . is about to make his next Showgirls.
If there is a Judgement day this guy is in deep doo-doo.
I dunno. Sometimes I think we should.
Image if we threatened to behead these idiots everytime they so directly insulted out God and religion.
Oh, I bet Janet Lesbiantano would be on us like a lead safe. All the resources of the fedral behemoth would be unloaded on any Christian who dared to follow the Islamic outrage of the day route.
Maybe we need to start a “Muslims who are offended and threaten to kill those who insult Christians” movement.
Loads of marketing research here. Someone somewhere needs a loss on the books and this one would be perfect! Actually, this is ego, impure and simply dreckful. See, I can still be controversial and relevant at the Hollyweird party circuit.
Yet, as Michael Medved, the JEWISH film critic and radio host has pointed out for decades, it is the 'G' films that make money and this polluted garbage will almost certainly not be 'G'! I can't recall when Verhoeven made anything less than 'R'.
Bye the bye, on this same movie subject, how much did Mel Gibson's much derided 'The Passion of the Christ' bring in as a 'R' film?
New Film: Obummer Not Divine, Product of Rape
” The book suggests Jesus was the result of Mary being raped by a Roman Centurion. “
Nothing new under the sun. Sounds like an offshoot of Hitler’s religion - claimed Jesus was the son of a German soldier in the Roman army.
Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.
We should urge him to spend as much as humanly possible, and then laugh as he loses millions.
This was a Nazi idea put out in the 1930s. Looking to the Third Reich for Movie Ideas now—can the Eternal Jew be far behind?
Yes. Blasphemy.
thanks for the references,
my own conjectures are,
The Septuagint which included the book of Daniel, provided the precise timing on when the Messiah would appear, it was translated into Greek in 280 BC,
As to the exact time for the coming of the Messiah. Israel was held directly accountable to know (as Jesus said) “this thy very day.” They didn’t know it, but they should have.
Gabriel told Daniel in chapter 9 v25 exactly when the Messiah would arrive. In Zechariah chapter 9 v9 we’re told the manner in which he would physically come into Jerusalem the first time. Not as a conquering King, but as a servant,
From Daniel, we’re told to count from the “going forth of the commandment to restore and rebuild Jerusalem” (and the wall) to count seven sevens or 49 years (360 days) and then count 62 sevens or 434 years, for a total of 173,880 days (483 years) precisely, then the Messiah would present himself (with ‘the acceptable year of the lord’ - Isaiah 61) but would be ‘cutoff’ but “not for himself” after 62 of these sevens (or again 434 years) leaving 56 years remaining for the future, that is is another 49 years and then the final seven years we hear so many talk about with prophecy,
This decree was issued by Artaxerxes on March 14, 445 BC. Counting 173,880 days comes to Sunday, April 6th 32 AD.
Jesus was crucified three days later on Wednesday April 9th, and three days and three nights after that, as ‘the sign of Jonas’ in Mathew 12:40, which is (i believe) a time marker sign, just for people like this director, who require a sign to believe, and this is the only one their going to get. Per Jeremiah 9 v6 these people ‘live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me,”
unfortunately it still requires at least some small effort and insight to grasp, and requires for some, to ignore traditions, too many of which make the commandments of god of non-effect. I believe this is just one example.
The resurrection was on the Feast of First Fruits, April 13th. The spring appointments (Feast Days) were fulfilled exactly. The fall feast days are still future with a future Jubilee (I believe)
The word became flesh and dwelt among men. Jesus was the temple made flesh. 14,000 days after the resurrection on April 13, 32 AD, meaning on August 10, 11 and 12 in 70 AD, (the 9th of AV) the physical Temple was taken away and their (Israel’s) house was left desolate.
Probably from the same resources that idiot Dan Brown got his false information from.
The material you mentioned about Daniel’s 70 weeks, along with another prophecy no less stunning are covered at the following link.
To this day I have never watched The Last Temptation of Christ. This will be yet another hollyweird crap piece that will not cross the threshold of my home.
And of course this Hollywood liar (and deciever) gets his information from where: Dan Brown?
Because his theories certainly don’t hold up to historical water.
