Issa's committee just voted 23/17 (party line vote) to pass the contempt motion to the full house.
Now up to Boehner to schedule a house vote.
Technically? Goes to the Wash D.C. Prosecutor’s office for prosecution. But since that office falls under the jurisdiction of the DOJ, there will be calls for a Special Prosecutor.
Legally, the House itself can hold a trial tho, IIRC that’s never actually been done before.

Although the news is flaunting that Boehner is not behind Issa, they are incorrect in their assessment! His office just yesterday stated that the reports are false and Boehner backs Issa 100%.

My question is, does contempt force the document release? If [with]holder resigns or is removed/impeached, what leverage is there on a new AG to produce the withheld docs?

If the full House passes the citation, it either goes to a Grand Jury (should Holder decide to allow one to prosecute himself), or the Sgt. at Arms of the House takes him directly into custody (a procedure not used in 80 years).

No, the democrats will use the excuse that now that Obama has used executive privelege, it would be wrong to hold Holder in contempt. It’ll probably be a party line vote. Pelosi will make it so for political reasons.
