Hugely successful and often controversial, Glenn Beck is a man full of complexities.
He points the finger in his new book "Cowards" but calls for "Restoring Love" in his upcoming rally. He jokes about being "Unelectable" on his comedy tour, but his new studio in Dallas includes a replica Oval Office for his mock presidential addresses.
Now, the media mogul is dropping his name from the online TV network based on his personal brand. GBTV will be merged with TheBlaze.com, the Beck-owned but independently operated news and opinion website. The entire network will be called TheBlaze.
That all-star team includes some unlikely executives who have joined the Beck team. There's Betsy Morgan, formerly CEO of The Huffington Post and before that an executive at CBS News. There's Joel Cheatwood, formerly a senior vice president at CNN and Fox News. Also Kraig Kitchin, formerly founder of Premiere Radio Networks, and Carolyn Polke, who was a consultant at Accenture.
"Sometimes the truth hurts," said Beck. "And if you'd read the book 'Cowards,' you'd see President Obama is not the only one, and it's certainly not a Republican and Democrat book. It is a human problem. Cowardice is a human problem."
While Beck isn't outwardly supporting either of the two major candidates in the 2012 election, he does have a prediction.
"If things would remain stable, I would say we are looking at a loss for the president around the size of, if not greater than, Jimmy Carter," he said. "Americans are tired. They are tired of the finger-pointing. They are tired of the excuses. They're tired of it on both sides."

Good for Beck. The Legacy Media needs to be taken down a notch or 500.
Not a bad article..
Never liked the GBTV moniker....too much like LGBT....
When I heard him the first time on the radio and for quite a ling time thereafter I always had this impression of a used car salesman, but I don’t know why.
So now I just think of him as the used car salesman of talk radio.
GBTV ... a subscription based service ... has more viewers then CNN does, and CNN is free
that must really bug them
And now he pens a book titled "Cowards." HA!
>>Beck jumped the shark by going on/off stage with body guards and a bullet proof vest at his “Restoring Honor” rally in DC, while Sarah Palin and Alveda King did not.<<
He did it for his wife. She asked him too.
I would be begging my husband to protect himself as well.
>>Really jumped the shark with that fake Oval Office. <<
Do you understand how many liberal heads exploded when that was unveiled?
I would tell my wife to go watch with Todd Palin.
how do you figure that???
Hopefully his network will have enough strength to pull Fox to the right or, better yet, beat out Fox, eventually.
I’m not crazy about the name. GBTV gives me the warm and fuzzies. Maybe it’s bees, “gee whiz,” the Bee Gees, or CBGB’s. Maybe he wanted to disconnect his name from the institution, but the use of his initials accomplished that. Or maybe he didn’t want to be associated with the alphabet networks.
I haven't read Glenn's book but this is my take on the problem.
>>I would tell my wife to go watch with Todd Palin.<<
If you were my husband, you would be taking your pillow to the couch for a couple months.
However, if you loved me and wore the stupid vest to make me happy, you would be a happy man. VERY happy. Every night. For a good long time, in many different ways.
Get my drift?
Beck has been breaking all the rules, and getting more successful every time he does.
He left TV (big mistake because TV drives everything); he just signed a $100 million radio contract.
He started a pay-to-view website (big mistake as people won’t pay for internet content); he has over a quarter of a million subscribers paying monthly $10 fee (you do the math).
He reportedly cleared $80 million last year.
I’m not really much of a Glenn Beck fan, but you can’t deny he’s getting it done. If this is jumping-the-shark, maybe more people need to start skiing.
uhh..they could have still shot him in the head ! that was silly
Going to shop for skis...
generally a precursor to a “For Sale” sign going up...
Beck is on the radio here two hours starting at 10:00 A.M. As far as I’m concerned it amounts to a two hour infomercial .... he’s promoting a book, or his TV show, or his latest grand project .... or just standard commercials. It’s very predictable and beginning to bore me.
