Huh? The United States was a world economic superpower before WW2. Before WW1 foreigners were pouring investment capital into the U.S.
Without any government interference industry leaders help propel the US into the worlds economic Superpower. By 1920 The US was worlds's greatest economic power.
The national income in 1920 in the US was greater than Britain, Germany, France, Japan, Canada and a host of other smaller countries.
We produced more goods and services than any other nation on Earth -- in total and on a per-capita basis.
We had Ford, Rockefeller, Mellon, others advancing technology and the economy of the United States.
Rockefeller was a genius at hiring the best and the brightest and giving them the incentive to innovate and advance technology. Rockefeller and his genius employees helped commercialize kerosene which helped save the whales :) Rockefeller was always looking at utilizing every aspect of a product -- made him rich and made people's lives better.

The single reason the US is the world's economic superpower is the US Constitution and the freedoms it ensures for US citizens. The condition of the world post-WWII was due to other nations of the "developed world" lacking the same degree of freedom. A capitalistic worldview and its ensuing wealth is the by-product of the freedoms enumerated in our Constitution under a rule of law.
I believe the line that we use at TF is that "America destroyed the economic capabilities of her competitors".
