With all due respect, I disagree. IMHO this is a Friday afternoon press conference which only political junkies will care and talk about through the weekend. If Romney goes head to head on this issue he will be labeled a racist and THAT will be the story by next week: WHY DOES ROMNEY HATE HISPANICS!!!!
If anything I suggest Romney make some comment on the reporter that dared to question the King; “I look forward to asking him some serious questions without the teleprompter”. Let that become the story. Let the lackeys address the political issue.
Of course no one EVER interrupted Bush when he was speaking. Decorum, doncha know.
They are already screaming racist...with the crap Bush had to put up with.
MSNBC: Would a white president get heckled?
“This is just so unprecedented and outrageous, that you have to ask the question, would the right-wing president be doing this if we had a white president there?” MSNBC guest and Democratic strategist Julian Epstein said on the channel this afternoon.
“I think it’s a vert important question because I think this is the first African-American president. We’ve never had a white president been told by the opposing party to shut up in the middle of a major address to the Congress. We’ve never had a president like this heckled so disrespectfully. We’ve never had this otherness afforded to any other president and I think the right wing has some explaining to do because to me it’s patently obvious,” he said.
I basically said the same thing you said in my Post #109. I don’t want Romney to go head-to-head on this thing. I want his campaign staff, who are smart and tough, to figure out a way to keep from losing 80% of the Latino vote over this.
