2) The Purists: Of course, you can go too far in the other direction, too, like the members of the "I'm more conservative than you" club. These are the people who tell you there's no difference between the Republican Party and the Democrats. They take their ball, go home, and don't vote in the general election when the candidate they support doesn't win a primary. Issues like electability, the chances of actually passing legislation, and what the general public wants are never taken into consideration. This is how you end up with people who think we can do better than Scott Brown (71% ACU rating) in Massachusetts or that we can just decide to never raise the debt limit again, even though we've already spent all of the money. If you want to have it your way, go to McDonald's because you're not ever going to get everything you want in politics.

Ah yes, the "PURISTS" and we DO have (thankfully only) a few here who keep encouraging us all to stay home in Nov or find someone else (other than Mittens) to write in, cuz he does not measure up to their "PRINCIPLES" dontcha know?

Morevoer, he is....WAIT FOR IT....10 TIMES worse, more eeeeevil, dangerous, etc. than our Fascist, Neo-Commie, Dear Leader....

....never mind that when challenged to produce ANYTHING that Romney has EVER said or did which in any way, is even close to what Barack Hussein Obama has done over the past 3 1/2 years and his deliberate attempt/intent to harm our Republic, if not DESTROY IT....all you hear is the sound of crickets....

Maybe you should hike up your big girl panties and demand a purge of Free Republic, if you have the courage.

I place no credence for anything coming from a citizen that lives above the Mason-Dixon. Our greatest Americans have always been and always will be Southerners. Without the south this country woudl be fully socialist/communist.

Correction:

Yes, when it comes to abortion up to 9 months in the womb or 1 month, forcing the gay agenda on 5 year olds and forcing this country to accept gay marriage (which was not created by the government, but GOD) many of us are purist. We stand against evil. What a better world we would live in if everyone had the courage to stand against the evils of the world. These are areas that should NEVER be compromised. These are also areas that only people with cold black hearts think don’t matter.

McCain & we will see if romney really has any guts. The fights he picks now are nothing. When is he going to call him out on hard things?

The Sell Outs: Nothing on the Left ever seems to get you as agitated as the things the people “on your side” do. Liberals get a pass for the same sort of comments that infuriate you when it comes out of the mouth of a conservative. That’s because when you’re a performing seal for the Left, you have to be tame and balance a ball on your nose just the way the Lefties like or they might stop giving you fish.

Romney

The Appropriators: If there’s one defining difference that separates Republicans from Democrats, it’s spending. Republicans want less of it, Democrats want more — well, at least that’s how it should be. Yet, there are big government Republicans. There are Republicans who love earmarks. There are Republicans who think it’s fine to fritter taxpayer money away, but they just want to waste a little less than the Democrats. These people are not just killing the Republican brand; they’re helping to ruin the country.

Proof

-Raised taxes/fees over 300% while being Governor of MA
-Implemented a state-level Cap and Trade system.
-Supported Man-Made Global Warming
 -Supported TARP

Romney managed to be a bubblehead outside of DC

The Bubbleheads: One of the idiosyncrasies of D.C. Republicans is that many of them are smart people, they’re well informed, they have inside info, and THEY CONSIDER THEMSELVES TO BE CONSERVATIVE- YET THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW OUT OF TOUCH ARE WITH THE BASE AND THE REST OF THE COUNTRY. This is how you end up with Republicans supporting Bridges to Nowhere, (ROMNEYCARE) increased National Endowment of the Arts funding,(GAY MARRIAGE, GAP ADOPTION, PRO ABORTION, FORCING  or pushing comprehensive immigration reform and Harriet Miers. The average talk radio listener or blog reader has a better read on politics in some areas than senators and congressmen because they’re not mired in that D.C. bubble with aides, consultants, pollsters, and lobbyists all pushing the same monolithic way of thinking. If you’re a Republican in D.C. who doesn’t get that, you’re part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Proof

-Romney is refusing to sign a pledge penned by the pro-life group ‘The Susan B. Anthony List that EVERY other candidate signed
-Mitt Romney established abortion as a “healthcare benefit” in his own government-run healthcare plan at $50 per abortion
-  Unforced by anyone, Romney overruled his own Commissioner of Public Health and lied about state law in order to compel Catholic hospitals to issue abortifacient pills — in violation of their freedom of religion enshrined in the United States and Massachusetts Constitutions
-Romney is for gay marriage and gay adoption and forced schools to indoctrinate children in the gay “lifestyle” over parents objections
-  As Governor, Mr. Romney has claimed that he had no choice but to obey the Supreme Judicial Court’s opinion. This claim is false. (if you want addl proof I have it) He abused his power, violated his state’s constitution, and made up a lawless “law” of his own. One that is in gross violation of the natural law. And one that has helped push the homosexual as much

Romney-His whole life is compromised.

The Compromise Fetishists: There’s nothing wrong with compromise per se. Republicans should be willing to compromise with Democrats — if it’s on a bill that will make the country significantly better overall. How many bills are there fitting that description that have been passed in the last decade or so? Certainly no more than a handful — and none have been passed during the Obama Administration. That’s because “compromise” in D.C. usually starts with the idea that Democrats get 90% of what they want and then Republicans negotiate to see how badly they’re going to lose. Yet, we hear some Republicans lauding compromise like it’s a worthwhile goal in and of itself. A compromise on a bad bill isn’t a win. Did Republicans make a mistake by refusing to work with the Democrats on the stimulus or Obamacare? Should they have worked with Obama to raise taxes, pass comprehensive immigration reform, or to do another stimulus? Of course not! Half of stupid is still pretty stupid, stupid.

Proof

-Pro abortion
-pro gay marriage & gay adoption
-Forced gay indoctrination of children on the gay agenda
-Promised log cabin republicans he would get gay marriage legalized accross the country
-Raised taxes/fees over 300% while being Governor of MA
-Implemented a state-level Cap and Trade system.
-Supported Man-Made Global Warming
-Supported the Brady Bill
-Implemented a state level “Assault” Weapons Ban after the Federal AWB was allowed to expire.
-Supported TARP
- Supported Amnesty for Illegal Aliens (Citizenship for those already here)
-Supported McCain-Kennedy (Amnesty)

Well, that didn’t take long.

I wouldn’t call myself a purist. No one’s ever going to be perfect. I just want a candidate who isn’t an abortion-enabling, Planned Parenthood-donating, sodomite-loving, homosexual adoption-pushing, tax-raising, global warming-believing, gun-banning, amnesty-pushing, socialist health care-establishing LIBERAL.

I'm one of those "purists" and I would never encourage anybody to stay at home. As a "purist" Conservative, I would encourage people to get out and vote for the most conservative candidate on the ballot, regardless of the letter next to their name.

After all, it's the other 4 groups of Republicans the author described, that put us into the kind of mess where we have a few decades of liberal Republicans getting the nomination. You're not going to be able to force those Republicans to move away from the center (or "left" as it should be called) unless you get out and vote.

Hell, staying home makes it even easier for the liberal Republicans to go hog wild.
