The case is headed to a grand jury but this guys more likely to land on Barbara Walterss couch than in prison. Id be surprised if theres a GJ in America that would indict him; if there is, lord knows its not in Texas. Heres the relevant statute in the states penal code. Not a close call:
(snip)
...Morally, this will be treated as justifiable homicide whether or not its technically self-defense by proxy which, to be clear, I think it is here and any jury would strain mightily to find that it qualified under the definition for the latter. Exit quotation: He got what he well deserved.

I guess I should have read the story. :0)
Not in Texas...(Git a rope) That guy was a scumbag!
The dad is a hero no doubt. But he took a man’s life justified righteous
Anger. He wouldn’t be human if he didn’t feel guilt. You don’t just kill somebody wipe your hands off and walk way. This was a very traumatic event for the perp the child who had to watch and the father who now realizes his little girl who was violated but she saw a side of her father probably was frightening for her to see
Even if it had not been his own child, a good beating causing death to that pervert was correct.
And I see no difference whether the pervert was shot dead, stabbed to death, or was beaten to death. The man saved the child. He did what he had to do. One doesnt stand around in an emergency thinking what to do.
Remorseful?
What has he got to be remorseful about?
He saw a predatory animal in the act of attacking his 4 year old daughter, and he killed it.
This animal posed a clear and present danger and needed killing.
I hope he recovers from his remorse soon. He did the right thing! He protected his own child and God knows how many others.
I think the guy simply wished he didn;t have to kill anyone and is sorry it came to that. I certainly do not think he is sorry he saved his daughter by whatever means necessary. No telling what this animal would have done after molesting her...he easily could have killed her.
I know I would do the same if I came across it with any of my three daughters (all grown now) or any of my eight grandchildren. The person would die, but whatever means I had available.
Reminds me of a case in Indianapolis years ago when we lived in Cincinnati. A man brutally raped then beat a young girl and left her for dead. But she survived and identified her assailant. He was found guilty but a liberal/lenient judge gave him a slap on the wrist, like 5-10 years. As they walked the perp through the airport to fly him to the State Pen, a man stepped out from next to a drinking fountain and shot the rapist dead. Turned out it was the girl’s father. He was indicted and it went to trial for murder one. It was clearly premeditated. He was found innocent by the jury. Temporary insanity. No pen, no state mental hospital. He went home to his family and the rapist got the justice he deserved. Jury nullification if I had ever seen it.

give this guy a medal
If i cousght someone molesting my daughter I would STILL be beating his dead corpse
“...Sorry.”
It's called the "He needed killin" defense in Texas.
I wouldn’t be remorseful in a situation like this.
The man chose to harm his daughter, that’s it.
I cannot speak for anybody else, but I know I wouldn’t vote to convict on a case like this.
He needed killin’
Judge Roy Bean
Pin a medal on him and send him home.
Can you imagine the howling rage of the Left if the father had used a (gasp) GUN?!?
Barn yard justice in Texas! Send us Sandusky!!!
He beat him repeatedly on the head. No shooting involved. Makes it even more justifiable to me. Nobody can say he shot in cold blood.
Is he remorseful that he killed the guy or is he remorseful because he may have doubts about what the guy was doing? If the guy was really molesting his daughter, yes, I have no problem with it, but it sounds like the guy might be having some doubts about what was happening.
Even though he was illegal, and is now room temperature, I bet he'll STILL vote dim in November...
