Bingo!
This is not prosecution, it's persecution.
Your reasoning seems realistic. On the otherhand it could quite simply be the state crushing both Zimmerman and his wife; thus teaching all of us not to resist black assaults unless we wish to be put through legal hell.
I think you’re right about the lesser charges.
I thought I read that both Zimmerman and his wife said that the brother-in-law was responsible for the Web site and Corey made NO effort to seek his testimony. None. And now they are being charged because they didn’t know how much had been collected by the Web site. It’s straight out of Kafka.
This situation is a miscarriage of justice.
“I think this is part of an effort to get Zimmerman to plead to a lesser charge rather than go to trial. Squeeze his family, try to get him left in jail with a long delay before trial, etc., then offer him a deal of a lesser charge and shorter possible prison sentence.”
There’s a good argument for this. What I think the prosecutor hopes for is that the funds for defense get spread out on bail and defending two cases. They appear desperate that this case NOT to go to trial. Hope the Zimmermans don’t have kids who have jaywalked. Corey’ll arrest ‘em and hold ‘em with no bail—that’ll show the cracker.
