This is an excellent point about one of the many potential side effects of this episode. Other unforeseen consequences await us. For starters, how will we reconcile the textbooks for social studies in elementary schools? How will we as a society react when the homos evolve to more brazen public acts? How will the supreme court handle the DOMA? Can we swing the pendulum to the right far enough to get a constitutional amendment? Many unanswered questions in this very disturbing issue now. How do we roll back the changes? May God help us.

I am in agreement with you. We still have many citizens who believe in God and His moral commandments. I think we have many citizens who follow God’s moral law or at least believe in the veracity of His laws even though they may not be evangelical or church going people.

I know it’s been said many times by others that our nation’s true need is for spiritual revival back to God. But, we are so religously pluralistic now - we don’t seem to have a common moral center anymore. At the same time we must not despair for I do believe where it says that what seems impossible with man IS possible with God.

He has been merciful to us many times in our past. I pray along with you for God’s help again in spite of our many national moral sins.

There are some significant exceptions, but unfortunately, many of our political leadership from local, state, to federal (in all three branches) seem to be in the forefront of accepting and promoting not only homosexal perversion, but also anything that destroys the family structure and policies that corrode liberty, freedom, as well as law and order.

What our people do in the next several elections is important, but more than that, there must be a whole-hearted turning spiritually, morally, politically, and socially toward Godly principles else we are going to lose this battle. We are going to lose our nation.

Anyone who has studied history at all knows that what is happening now has all happened before over and over in other long gone civilizations.

But, one significant thing that sets our nation apart from all others is that in our founding, our great Founding Fathers espoused the belief that the source of our liberty, freedom, and equality is God alone - not from a government or even a constitution, because governments and constitutions are man-made and therefore transitory. As long as we as a people hold that belief to be true and respect God and His moral law, I don’t believe that we would ever fall. Deny the truth of that belief that the Founders established our country upon, and we will fall.

I don’t mean to be dramatic. We don’t all know each other here on Free Republic. We don’t even all agree here politically regarding how conservatism should be worked out, but I do know that we all KNOW our country is in serious, serious trouble right to its soul. We all sense it. We all have an urgency that unless things change we may not make it. God alone knows.

We need to seriously pray, seriously live our lives in a way that pleases God, be a witness for Him, and stand up at home, at work, at play, as well as in the voting box.

Once again, I pray along with you gcraig - God help us. Only He can.
