Despite Scott Walkers Win, Obama Outpolls Romney In Wisconsin Aaron Blake 06/05/2012
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) is on his way to victory in the states recall election tonight, but looking forward to the fall, the Obama campaign may have something positive to glean from the results. While the totals have Walker ahead significantly, exit polls suggest he did it with a healthy dose of support from voters who are leaning toward President Obama in the fall.
In fact, exit polls show Walker winning 17 percent of Obama supporters much higher than Democrat Tom Barretts 6 percent of Mitt Romney supporters. Overall, the electorate that turned out today is backing Obama by a significant margin: 52 percent to 43 percent.
Now, all of this comes with a giant caveat; the exit polls initially were pretty far off, showing a close race between Walker and Barrett. Thus, Republicans are casting doubt that they mean much of anything at all. Everyone should think twice about using tonights Wisconsin exit polling in any fashion, tweeted Kirsten Kukowski, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee.
The numbers could indeed change further, but even as the exit polls have adjusted to reflect Walkers win, Obamas lead has stayed largely the same.
And if they are even close to accurate, Obama would have won the race with the electorate that turned out today.
Republicans have argued that Wisconsin will be a toss-up in the fall and the Obama campaign notably agreed with them this week, putting the race on its list of toss-ups. For now, though, it might be hard to cast Walkers win as a big sign of GOP momentum in the presidential election.
Just who are the voters who opted to keep a Republican governor, but would also return Obama ....

Why should we believe these polls when the polls were saying this was going to be close with Walker?
The 50/50 exit polling was a “sampling” error; however, the Obama leading Romney part was okay. Got it.
I suspect a tactical "lie".
.
Romney will likely win 40+ states in November. Obama is about as popular as herpes.
A lot of the Walker win was based on the fact that folks thought the recall tactic was B.S., and should only be used to recall elected officials who did something wrong.
While I’m sure some of the support was ideological, it would be unwise to place too much stock in this particular vote as a national bellwether for Obama’s re-election.
The left do this every time.
No one in this state has paid any attention to the presidential race or the US Senate race.
If Ryan is the VP nominee, Wisconsin goes for Romney/Ryan. The real problem is that the rank and file GOP voter in Wisconsin isn’t all that excited about Romney. Imagine that.
This is from the Washington Post. It probably means nothing at all.
This asshat needs to take a look at what happened in “Blue California” this evening. San Diego and San Jose overwhelmingly approved serious measures to take away PE Union pensions. And they said that Scott Walker was “local.”
“Despite Scott Walkers Win, Obama Outpolls Romney In Wisconsin”
Of course...
The people that voted against the big union bosses are going to vote for the president who has the head of the most corrupt union (SEIU) at the white house at least once a week!
Dream on fools!
Zer0 wetted his undies. Obama threw Barrett under the bus.
Coward ‘n’ Chief hiding in the closet.
The journalist who wrote this trash cried himself to sleep tonight. Pillow soaked through with tears. I ain’t lying.
And this is reliable information because everyone knows that exit poll participants never lie or try to spin the poll.
Aaron Blake is doing what is known as “polishing the turd he was handed”.
Yep, exactly. The exit polling probably .. if done at all .. was conducted sometime around noon, after the welfare parasites get up, eat their foodstamp-financed breakfast, and stumble down to the polls to cast a vote for Barrett after getting their promised pack of Kools and Popeye`s coupons.
But then.. the voting demographic changed drastically after the end of the workday. It was time for the productive class to have their say.
So, had this “exit poll” been conducted at 6:30 p.m., they`d have gotten a markedly different result.
So true. Greta Van Susteran point that out last night. So, Obama..who essentially let the dems in WI drown in June.. is going to come back begging for their support for November? Other than the blacks, it seems to me WI`s dems would be looking at Obama rather warily.
Add to this, the unions spent huge amounds of resources for this failure yesterday. With high numbers of public union members dropping from the rolls, the thugs are going to be wanting for $$$ that otherwise would be spent on pro-Obama propaganda.
It is very telling that Obama did not come to the state, especially when he was next door doing multiple campaign parties. In Nov, the local dems will be so happy for him to show up asking for their vote.
The point is, a strong GOP local support system is now in place. They believe they can turn the state for Romney in Nov and the Romney campaign believes it, so they will spend time and money in Wisconsin. There will be an overflow effect, either result will be a positive. Either Obama will have to spend money and campaign in a state that was “in the democrat column” but no longer is, or better yet the GOP actually wins the state, a net 20 electoral vote gain. (i.e., 10 ev out of democrat column, 10 ev up for GOP)
