"Watch the video at the link, children being rounded up, separated from their parents by gunpoint. Sad. And just wrong."

The police have gone way over the line in this case and need to be sued and disciplined until they get the message that the Constitution still means something. They are also responsible for any trauma caused to the children and ongoing medical care necessary. Any Freeper attorneys around to comment on legal liability?

(Brent13a, LEO, reply #48)

Brother, you need to step back, take some deep breaths, and do some serious self-examination. If you feel that mass-handcuffing of bystanders is now just another useful LE tool, then you have crossed a dangerous red line into supporting tyrannical police-state tactics.

Millions of us "so-called patriots" actually do believe in defending the Constitution. Millions of us took oaths to defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign AND DOMESTIC.

Your sworn oath to defend the Constitution might be a joke to you, but let me promise you, it is not a joke to millions of us who also took the oath. And our oaths did not come with an expiration date.

You need to look in the mirror, and ask yourself some very serious questions.

I’ve now watched the video and I am more irritated than I had been.

What happened is wrong.

It is sad that I am starting to fear the police and that is not my problem, it is a police problem.

Perhaps law enforcement need to stop and reassess themselves.

They are developing an image problem...even amongst those who would be most supportive of them.

It makes them less safe not more, in acting so aggressively—that is my opinion, anyhow.

I want our officers safe and the public safe but situations such as this are doing nothing to help. It hurts.

Us slaves gotta be taught our place, right.

But the question remains, who moved? Evidence shows that it was the police’s view of the lawabiding citizen.

I believe that the turning point was the “War on Drugs” and sealed by the “Patriot Act”. Both had good intentions and laudable goals. Both unfortunately gave the Police and and Prosecutors in the “Justice Industry” way to much power over the citizenry.

Under the War on Drugs, the police mentality subtly changed with the ability to confiscate cash and charge inanimate objects like cars, boats and Real Property with crimes and confiscate those through the legal system to help “pay” for the War on drugs. That slippery slope turned out to be a greased ride to the mentality of “Us vs. Them”.

It’s gone so far that nearly everyone I personally know wants to make these illegal drugs legal and prescribed as necessary for the addicts. And many of these same people have in their families or know someone that has used illegal drugs and has done some pretty crappy things to pay for them. My own oldest son died because of a needle spread disease. So I personally have major reasons to hate illegal drugs.

But... and it’s a huge one, the unintended consequences to our society and the way we interact with our Police, Prosecutors and Politicians has deteriorated to a scummy level. So the benefits of the War on Drugs and The War on Terror are vastly overstated in comparison to the damages to our Freedoms and way of life prior to those two policies.

Practice makes perfect. It's also to pacify the population "nothing wrong with such procedure, ya know?"

This "establishes" the State's rights to do what they please transmits the subliminal message "in case you're thinking of something, it's futile...kneel or else!"

Bank robbery, description of the getaway vehicle, possible hostages. 24 vehicles of said description experience a felony stop ?

24 out of thousands ?

Interesting thread.

Stay safe.

You need to take up underwater basket weaving. You don't have the temperament for real police work.

Seriously. Before you hurt someone.

Did they find the bank robbers in any of the cars? What did they discover? Nothing?

Reminds me of the TSA.

Turning the water up on the frog in the pot, bit by bit. And conditioning LEOs to think of all the citizenry as bad guys.

But there, of course, is the reason why I now believe that so-called patriots are just as untrustworthy as criminals and would like to kill me just as much as any other cop-hater:

That is a whole ball of f*cked up right there. With that attitude of yours begin carried around on a daily basis? You may have just spoken a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Quit your LEO job and get one as an insurance agent. We need more LIVE Patriots, not self destructive JBT's.

“I’m going to keep getting my aggregated news here because it’s the best spot for it, but I feel compelled to defend my brothers and sisters even if it’s with facetious sarcasm.”

Suggestion: Point out that the bank robbery occured in a small town where the entire area could be easily isolated. Indeed, it was effectively so isolated and the criminals captured.

The real issue is the handcuffing without reasonable suspicion. Merely being present is not necessarily criminal.

Had AMerica not been subjected to a long series of abuses by armed thugs in a wide aray of uniforms, hte public would be more understanding of the Aurora PD acts.

Unfortunately, hte Comies in Media have convinced the Proles that an officer is more valuable than a citizen. And, they lionize and worship every LEo killed because they “were preventing crime from destroying AMeric”.

Do remember that the public is aware that being a LEO means said officer is not in one of the Ten Most Dangerous Jobs. Fishermen, roofers, truckers - all take more risks every day at work and die more frequently.

Yet Commie Media glorifies LEOs as if this nation were already the Police State they want do badly.

Your posts seem to show a devotion to the Constitution. May I suggest reminding your fellow officers that as America has already decided how to deal with the “Blue Helmets” if they appear, they are also reassessing their views of the Blue uniforms. Change towards a Constitution observant police force is essential if the Republic is to survive, and unless the individuals in those Blue Uniforms change their beliefs and behavior, I fear things will not end well.

Agreed. Some of us pointed this out back before 9/11 and then later with the passage of the Patriot Act.

We were called names for this foresight and told to buy more tinfoil.

Who's laughing now...

Excellent post BTW.

Having re-read your post, I noted the following: “On here, while I’m trying to get my aggregated news I can’t get anywhere else I have be deluged by so-called fellow patriots who, as fas as I know, would rather put a bullet in my back as much as spit on me because I am a cop.”

You clearly have the cart before the horse. The public is afraid, with a multitude of example to prove their position, that a cop will kill them. Worse yrt, they cop who kills always escapes execution.

A cop is no more valuable than a citizen not wearing a cop’s uniform. When cops once again realize their life is not more valuable than other citizens lives, and their departments management no longer declare that any action is acceptable if it prevents a cop’s death - then and only then will cops no longer correctly be seen as cops instead of soi dissant Ubermenschen.
