TALLAHASSEE, Fla Federal authorities are demanding that Florida halt its push to remove ineligible voters from the voter rolls.
In a move that comes just months before the state could play a pivotal role in the 2012 presidential election, the U.S. Department of Justice contends that the state is violating federal law in its effort to identify and remove ineligible voters.
The state's effort has already come under fire from local election supervisors who belong to both political parties, as well as Democratic members of Congress and voting rights groups.
Chris Cate, a spokesman for the Florida Department of State, said state officials were still reviewing the letter, but hinted Florida may fight federal authorities.
"Bottom line is we are firmly committed to doing the right thing and preventing ineligible voters from being able to cast a ballot," Cate said.
Florida, at the urging of Republican Gov. Rick Scott, began looking for non-U.S. citizens on its voter rolls last year. An initial search turned up as many as 182,000 registered voters who may not be U.S. citizens.

The wreck is coming, no doubt. Hopefully, we can pick-up the pieces and make it work, once again. Or perhaps, just start over. I don’t know. I fear the worst, though.

Me too, if I had no faith in a better world ahead, life here would be dismal indeed the way it’s going, all of man’s ideas are playing out and have been exposed to be without merit..we need God, the reality we were created for,the world we were made for..best wishes in the coming trials..

It’s way beyond mockery, now; words fail me as to *what* it is, JB. I’d get into trouble if I said what I’m thinking. And I don’t know of a *nice way* of saying it, either.

I am ALL FOR getting dead people and non-citizens off the voting rolls!! However, it sounds like the State of Florida might need to develop a double-check system to make sure they arent bumping live citizens off the list.
We have one . You have to show picture ID to vote in Florida , DL or state issued ID . All new DL renewals in Florida require you to bring your birth certificate , your passport if you were not born in the USA and or your naturalization papers . If you have had a name change since your birth such as in marriage you are required to bring the certificate proving you were married . If they have pulled these name it is most likely because these people have renewed the DL and shown that they are not eligible to vote here .Voter registration in Florida is also done where they issue your DL and it is now tied to it . THis program started this year as the years progress they will end up finding many more that are not are not suppose to be voting here .
We have a huge problem with non citizens voting , we have a huge problem with northerners who only live here in the winter voting in our elections . These people are turning the tides of the elections in this state . This state for the most part is conservative .
As far as questioning the citizenship of a WWII veteran goes well not all veterans were/are citizens . I have a family member myself who served during WWII as a US Marine and he was not born in this country nor was he a citizen when he served , he had a green card . Don't assume that all veterans are citizens as some of them do have green cards and they are not suppose to vote .Most do end up becoming citizens though

Florida can just ignore Holder and Obama.
To: carriage_hill
Just cancel everyone and let the legitimate voters register again. It’s really, really, not going to kill me to register to vote once every two years.

to support their claim that the term natural born citizen in the U.S. Constitution means something other than the offspring of two American citizens.First, we'd have to see proof (a real BC) that Obama was the child of two AMERICAN citizens.
The ALLEGED father was not even an American Citizen.

That the term natural born citizen in the U.S. Constitution means something other than the offspring of two American citizens. Then why Obama, you have never submitted "evidence" to any court in an attempt to change the meaning and intent the term NBC in the scores of eligibility cases over the last 4 years against you?
Because there is no credible evidence to support the claim that's why.

Democrats demand the right to vote be protected for dead people, a valuable part of their base in many states.
Florida also should start prosecuting all the old Yankees who vote in Florida and are registered in NY as well.

That WWII vet was queried because many years ago, he lied about his age in order to get his drivers license while still underage. So his DMV record did not match his voter registration record, which had is real date of birth.
It was this age discrepancy that flagged the system. And rightly so — the prick would not have received a letter had he not given a false date of birth to the state in the first place.
