In order to win, Romney is going to need as strong a conservative, but also as broad a base of support as possible. Wrapping up the official GOP nomination will give him the opportunity to do that, if he can.
His pick for VP will be extremely pivotal in this regard.

Romney’s pick for VP will be interesting, not so much for the person picked for this somewhat thankless job, but to show the direction Romney is leaning.
I believe he will make a good pick. I don’t believe it will be a dramatic pick or a dangerous pick because that’s not how Romney operates.
