“Inequality Dates Back to Stone Age”
Wow. Just when you think “science” (and in this case I use the term loosely) can’t sink any lower. While the specific findings cited in the article are interesting, the focus on “wealth inequality” is simply stupid.
In the natural world, there has never been equality of any kind. The stronger, faster and/or smarter survive and thrive. It is no wonder that early humans did the same, especially given that their ancestors were hunter/gatherers.
In fact, it remains to be seen how harmful our current ideas of “equality” (and a few other things) actually are. The most successful generally limit family size, while the uneducated, poor and dependent have large families. We artificially extend the life of the medically unfit, who often reproduce as well. Essentially, we are artificially permitting the more unfit out outbreed the fit. That seems like a recipe for long-term disaster to me.
Sorry, still early.
Any demand for reparations, yet?
We need an affirmative action program to make sure that smaller bucks get to mate as often as the strongest bucks.
Likewise in Africa - why should the beachmaster male hippos get all the females?
Life is just so unfair, we need government programs to deal with it. And more grants to study what should be done. And of course, we have to shoot those who engage in such unfair behavior.
We are all given life from there on out it’s a toss up.
The NBA should reflect the general population.
Those African inequalities made it to our shores — just look at all the Kenyan long distance runners. They should be hobbled to make it fair for the melanin challenged.
We will always have income inequality because we will always have “ambition inequality”, “intelligence inequality” and “work ethic inequality”.

This is surprising in what way?
And...regarding the adze-man: you can bet that guy also had the best weapons around. The adze wouldn't have helped him hold his land, but better bows and arrows, spears, etc. sure would have.
Kurt Vonnegut saw that coming a long time ago- Google “Harrison Bergeron”.
I thought inequity was the cornerstone of specialization and the foundation for civilization. If we were all equal, we would all be spending every minute of our day scrambling for our own survival. Even the family unit is unequal.
Funny how the same people who observe a pack of wolves never question the existence of an alpha male in the pack, but won't accept that some humans do better than others and should reap the rewards of that.
Equality in opportunity is a new enough concept, but equality in outcome is downright unnatural. Anyone who has raised kids and tried to maintain a semblance of parity among them would recognize this.
(Historical proof that the Estate Tax is 'fair')

Hey, it's good to have a rich daddy.
Sort of. Inequity is in the eye of the envious beholder, is a fancy way of saying "No fair!". It's a way of blaming envy on the envied, thereby taking a load of blame off the envier's shoulders.
Envy is what sparks human evolution. Without it we would still be in the Garden of Eden, naked, happily eating grubs from a stick. We owe it all to the deadly sin of envy and the envious leftists.
A bell curve of wealth and accomplishment always forms among multiple tribes. The left side of that bell curve always looks to loot, rape, murder, and destroy the right. The result is human evolution progresses at a precisely self-regulating pace, far outpacing the rate of natural evolution.
