I was going to make a humorous comment, but after reading the whole story, I think the bastard got what he deserved.
I can very easily see how a woman who has been subjected to that kind of treatment might decide that a leering grin and an obscene gesture were the collective last straw.
More accurately, he got what he deserved IF he did what she says he did.
That the rape, assault, etc. occurred is not a fact. It is a claim by the wife.
That the cops gave it enough credence to file charges is a point in its favor for being true, but only a point.
Such charges are VERY common in bitter divorces.
