One factor that should help the economy is the widespread anti-tax sentiment. Even liberal areas (with no TEA Partiers) are chafing at the taxes levied while wages and real purchasing power fall.
That alone should provide a nice boost; for the first time in years I received a proeprty tax rebate form from the state of NJ (they’d been drastically scaled back before).
