Maybe during the dressing changes, give it a little more time to get some added circulation and air? Just guessing here. I think it must be getting better too, given that he doesn't need to see for 2 weeks! I'll pray extra also.

Can you elevate your leg every couple of hours or so? Massage it for about five minutes to get the juices flowing, and then lower it again. That should improve circulation, and might help with the healing.
Deep breathing helps a lot to get extra oxygen into your blood stream as well.
Still praying for the complete healing of the wound.
