It is very important for Romney to have some kind of challenge from the right.

Oh, yes, absolutely. But unfortunately that time is past. There should have been just one challenger from the right to Romney. IMHO, that should have been Gingrich.

But there were two: Gingrich and Santorum. And for awhile, Bachmann and Perry also. The right was split, so Romney snuck in.

These are past mistakes (which the right will probably repeat again in the future). So now it's either Romney or Obama. Rally around one or the other. Sad, isn't it?

He needs a challenge from the right in the presidential campaign. As you say, the primaries are over, and they did push him to the right.

That’s why a challenge from the right would tend to keep him right during the general election.

You WANT us to have enough support to be worrisome, but not enough to cause Romney to lose crucial states.

As I said, the ABO’s are stuck with Romney now, but there’s no reason they should let him know they’re with him no matter what.
