Air conditioning is probably this man’s biggest expense - needed when the solar power is at its “peak.”

How do you know that he doesn’t have back up batteries? That’s a big expense for a plain grid hook up.

True about the A/C although even with that his peak use of A/C will lag peak solar energy. There are thousands of these types of installations from SolarCity (the biggest of the solar scam companies) and this is from their faq:
Do I need a battery back-up system?
No. Battery systems are expensive and are not recommended. All SolarCity solar systems are connected to the utility grid so you always have access to a power source. You never have to worry about “running out” of power.
