Allmendinger had a flat and had to pit as the cars came to the green flag..

And thanks to that, Jr dominated! Woot!

Final Lap by Lap - Showdown

Lap 40 — CHECKERED FLAG: Dale Earnhardt Jr. takes the victory, while AJ Allmendinger completes his charge back from the near-disaster at the beginning of the race to finish second and make it into the Sprint All-Star Race.

Lap 38 — Jamie McMurray bobbles coming off the second corner, and AJ Allmendinger jumps under him for the spot.

Lap 36 — AJ Allmendinger appears to be biding his time in going after Jamie McMurray for second place, the final transfer spot into the all-star race.

Lap 31 — As AJ Allmendinger continues his charge toward second place, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is building on his cushion over current runnerup Jamie McMurray.

Lap 29 — AJ Allmendinger is catching Jamie McMurray for second place, and he’s doing it very quickly.

Lap 27 — Third-place Martin Truex Jr. has a mirror full of AJ Allmendinger, who makes his move coming off Turn 4.

Lap 25 — Move AJ Allmendinger past Joey Logano for fourth place. He’s moving!

Lap 23 — AJ Allmendinger roars past Juan Montoya for fifth place. Remember ... he had to pit with a flat tire just as the race started!

Lap 22 — Jamie McMurrray clears Martin Truex Jr. for second place.

Lap 21 — GREEN FLAG: The top five are Dale Earnhardt Jr., Martin Truex Jr., Jeff Burton, Jamie McMurray and Aric Almirola. Joey Logano, Casey Mears, Juan Montoya, Landon Cassil and AJ Allmendinger round out the top 10. Let’s see how long older tires last against those who pitted.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is well clear of the field in Turn 1. Jamie McMurray goes after Martin Truex Jr. for second place.

7:56 p.m. ET — David Reutimann, David Stremme, Mike Bliss and Tony Raines roll down pit road.

7:54 p.m. ET — Everybody except for leaders Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Martin Truex Jr., in addition to David Reutimann, David Stremme, Mike Bliss and Tony Raines, hits pit road.

7:53 p.m. ET — Pit road is still closed.

Lap 21 — YELLOW FLAG NO. 1: The first segment has ended.

Lap 20 — Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s lead over Martin Truex Jr. has stabilized at about 1.5 seconds.

Lap 17 — Race director David Hoots announces that pit road is closed ... pit road is closed ... pit road is closed. Three laps to the segment end.

Lap 15 — Dale Earnhardt Jr. is now about 1.5 seconds ahead of Martin Truex Jr.

Lap 12 — It’s not Richard Petty behind the wheel, but there’s a 43 car on the leader board. Aric Almirola is in fifth place!

Lap 10 — Don’t want to jinx anything here, but it looks like Dale Earnhardt Jr. might not need the help of a fan vote to make it into the Sprint All-Star Race!

Lap 8 — Jeff Burton is in third place, 2.8 seconds behind leader Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Lap 7 — Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s lead over Martin Truex Jr. is about 8/10ths of a second and growing. He says the car is a little bit free in the turns.

Lap 5 — Joey Logano and Jamie McMurray bang doors between Turns 1 and 2, and Logano slides precariously close to the outside retaining wall.

Lap 2 — Dale Earnhardt Jr. wiggles big time coming off Turn 4, but he’s able to collect the back end and keep going.

Lap 1 — GREEN FLAG: The race gets under way at 7:41 p.m. ET. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Martin Truex Jr. battle it out for the lead, with Junior coming out on top coming off Turn 4.

7:40 p.m. ET — Yep, he sure did. The left-front tire on AJ Allmendinger’s car is flat. He hits pit road just as the green flag comes out.

7:39 p.m. ET — Dale Earnhardt Jr. just reported that someone has a flat right-front tire. Did he say AJ Allmendinger?!?

7:37 p.m. ET — Two more pace laps and we’re going racing!
