I remember that ad from the Lampoon. When I was in Recruiting, we came up for an ad for armor enlistments. Involved driving an M 60 over VW. Some Gen. in the Pentagon made the ad agency change it to a wall.
Poor VW, the Dangerfield of autos!
I don't know about VWs but I saw an M60 roll over top of a Jeep once.
