WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. Army leaders have begun to study the prospect of sending women soldiers to the service's prestigious Ranger school - another step in the effort to broaden opportunities for women in the military.
Gen. Raymond Odierno, Army chief of staff, says he's asked senior commanders to provide him with recommendations and a plan this summer.

a) If men in support units can find themselves in “deep kimche,” then so can the women who have a large presence in such units. By that rationale, women have every reason to go to Ranger school.
b) Being tabbed is NOT a requirement for combat arms company commanders. Granted, it makes you more likely to get selected for command, but now that we’ve been at war for over a decade, the Ranger tab just doesn’t mean what it used to. Now it’s all about how you did as a combat leader at the Platoon level. As we transition into peacetime again, I’m sure the tab will begin to carry more weight.
They’ll never learn.
You may be right that the RIO survived.
Not to worry. Just looked at the contract I signed with Jim Rob in '98 to become a FReeper and it says as follows: "All FReepers shall ensure they spell all words correctly. The only exception shall be jmax, who can, at any time, spell 'sergeant' anyway he wants. * The reason is jmax is a dummy and grammar school dropout who couldn't spell shitt correctly if he wanted to.

* Besides that, what did Pvt Jones say to John Wayne when the enemy was about to over run their position? He said: "Got any toilet paper, SARGE ? I just crapped in my pants". N-O-T "Got any toilet paper, SERGE ? I just crapped in my pants".
(To which John Wayne answered, by the way....."Don't sweat it, Pvt, I survived a lot of Indian fights down in TAXES and took a few arrows, but always survived.")
Just got info through one of my former Team Leaders who’s now a Ranger Instructor at Mountain Phase—the first batch of females is currently being trained for Ranger school at West Point. They’re expected at Benning in JAN 2013.
As of now, the requirements are NOT going to be relaxed.
Any bets on how long that’s going to last?
Right up to the point where there's a risk of significantly less than 50% female pass rate, IMHO. Then things will be adjusted to whatever they need to be to allow 50% pass rate.
There is a reason for gender roles.
