Not to take anything away from Palin, but she was late to the party. Fischer had shown significant gains in support before both the Palins endorsed her.
Ehhhh...not really. I’m from Nebraska and a volunteer for Fischer. Things weren’t looking good two weeks ago when Bruning had a 10+ point lead with endorsements, money and the GOPe behind his back.
Many were afraid that Fischer and Stenberg would split the anti-Bruning vote. Deb was on a shoestring budget and wasn’t campaigning as early as the other two (she’s in the legislature and the Unicameral session didn’t end until April).
When Sarah endorsed, it was like gas on a campfire. Out of nowhere, I got buzzed, tweeted, Facebooked and emailed by my buds asking how they can help/donate. She surged and won in the stretched.
Yes, there were other factors as well, but this victory owes a lot to Palin Power.
