Barely a day goes by that President Barack Obama doesnt harangue us with complaints that were not all paying our fair share. Considering the fact that 47 percent of American households pay no federal income tax whatsoever, and that the top 5 percent of wage earners pay almost 59 percent of the total tax revenue, I agree with the president: There are those who are taking advantage of the Internal Revenue Codes complexity. But its not the people the president has in mind each time he delivers his class warfare address.
Indianapolis NBC affiliate WTHR recently uncovered a growing segment of individuals unfairly milking the system -- but its not oil barons, banking magnates or Wall Street wizards. Its illegal immigrants.
All those earning money in the United States, whether here legally or not, are required to file tax returns with the IRS. The problem stems from the fact that 2 million undocumented workers claim tax credits for children living outside our borders, primarily in Mexico.

Beginning with the first tenent of the tax code, that is, it be progressive (euphanism for tax some one else), the tax code has been used to promote business and social policies. It should have been used solely to raise money for the needs of the government.
Everyone has their hands in the “tax code” from the realtors who do not want the home mortgage interest deduction removed to the low paid workers where the tax code is used as a wage subsidy.
FINALLY...a good(?) reason to fix/simplify the tax code!
WOW...who'd a thunk it!?!
Fair Tax seems to me the best solution. Every single purchase is taxed, and only the legal citizens get the monthly pre-bate. Illegals would become profitable, but they’d be motivated to become legal.
I would not suggest “simplifying” the tax code to Pres. Obama and his cronies. He’d change it to “How much do you make? Send it ALL in. We’ll send you back what we think you need.”
Aside from this, Support the Fair Tax! Tax consumption, not productivity! Get the illegals, criminals, etc., to pay their taxes, too! Get rid of a tax code so complicated that even the bureaucracy charged with enforcing can’t understand it!
The tax code does need to be changed, but real economic change and viability won’t occur until governments spend less than they take in.
I agree completely - all the more reason to start all over.
” Every single purchase is taxed, and only the legal citizens get the monthly pre-bate.”
Sure, just like only legal citizens get the EIC rebates, and welfare, and food stamps, and free medical, and...
Bwahahahar!
I agree. But absent that, ANYTHING would be better than the monstrosity we have now.
AMEN!!
Flat tax is the only thing that makes sense and would work.
When I see that itinerant criminal immigrants are smarter than the "top brains" in Washington and are sending 4.3 billion (and growing) of our tax dollars each year to fictitious "dependent children" in Mexico (who are probably not seeing a dime of it), I ask myself why I should be paying any taxes at all. Let's first send his fair share of the profits from his ghost written "autobiographies" as well as the millions he and Moochelle are skimming off the top of his Hollywood "fund raisers" for vacations, golf and reelection to these charlatans.
No doubt, controlling runaway spending has to be our number one priority.
It’s hard to argue with you on that.
I personally like the Fair Tax, but the Flat Tax runs a close second in my book. Anything but what we have!

I call my tax plan the Simple Tax. You pay 10% of your gross earnings to the Feds and that’s it. No tax deductions, no tax refunds, etc.
Net Profits Only.
And salaried labor is 100% deductable as an even trade, with no taxable profit.
And then the States, Counties, Cities, etc. have to get ALL of their shares out of that 10%, too.
And any proposal by anyone, anywhere, to raise any of it or expand it, gets a mandatory death penalty.
And and unbalanced budget gets the same penalty for the bureaucrats and politicians responsible.
I call my plan, "The End of Poverty-Sucking Liberals Tax Plan."
