I got the picture from Mail online (where the OP got the story) This is pictured as the bush where the poisonous stuff comes from.
As I said, there used to be one of these at an apt complex here and I’m sure they called it an angel trumpet.
It’s got to be different from that poison bush. They couldn’t have anything so poisonous growing out in public.

If you think Datura is bad, try chewing Morning Glory seeds..........

Of the poisonous plants that can grow in any given area, very few are regulated by the government, and even fewer have those regulations enforced. It's quite possible to have deadly poisons growing all around you and never know it. There's a book called "Wicked Plants" that tells about some of them, but the author readily admits that it doesn't cover all of them.
