I know some will take your point 1 as a joke. But way back when, the 2nd amendment was meant for any man-portable and operated weapon. Including cannon on private ships. Not sure if there is a one-man nuke or not. :)

Of course there is. And if you can afford the ammo at $2.5 mil per round I think you should be able to carry one. You must also pass an IAEA hunter safety course too. ;^)

Those ships with their cannon were the 18th century equivalent of thermonuclear warheads in today's theatres of combat.

They were all privately owned.

The Founders were not afraid of armed people.
