The beginning of deep water drilling in the South China Sea and the warning to the Phils to keep off is a first step towards dominating the oceanspace of the South China Sea. If this is vigorously resisted by the Phils and other Asean states and the US the Chinese will step back for the time being. In a relatively short time say 10 to 20 years they will not be deterred as their navy will be a close technical equal to the US and Japan. So one could say the the strategy has been already launched. Without going into how the Chinese view time horizons I would suggest 40-50 years is a rough timeline to establishing their primacy with another fifty years to fill in the details.

Have you ever stopped to realize how far this country, as well as the rest of the world, has come in the past 100 years in terms of technology? A hundred years ago they were still driving horse and buggys. A hundred years ago, the majority of the people in this country didn't even have running water. In that hundred years, counries have risen and fallen. In that hundred years, our country alone saw the great depression and suffered the dust bowl years.

A hundred years from now you won't even recognize the new world as compared to today and it ain't going to be the fault of the Chinese.........

The world is becoming more free every year. Countries with dictators are falling. Yeah, there are some holdouts and some rise but for the most part it's getting better. Even the Middle East is getting better albeit slow. Women are allowed to vote this year in Saudi for the first time and they are talking about letting them drive. Dubai, Jordan etc are becoming very modern.

I can't stand China for what they do (unfair trade, spying etc) but even that country is going to be come more free as time marches on.
