To: Fledermaus
I like to think that conservatives are largely intelligent and confident enough to admit when their own favorites have said or done something plainly dumb.

After all, we are not utopian socialists; we do not commonly hold others to an impossible standard of perfection nor circle our wagons in defense of indefensible positions expressed by those we would otherwise consider friends. That we sometimes do so would seem to speak more loudly of our correct understanding of human nature than of our personal frailties, of which our understanding admits.

I appreciate those great words. To me it is a level of degree. Someone loses my support when they clearly have no real organizational skills to be the chief executive of the United States.

Even if I had no idea who the hell Elvis was I’d think my organization can “brief me” when I’m going to give a speech in Memphis. Or I’d Google it.

Is that too hard these days?
