President Obama today announced that he now supports
same-sex marriage, reversing his longstanding opposition amid growing pressure
from the Democratic base and even his own vice president.
In an interview with ABC News Robin Roberts, the president
described his thought process as an evolution that led him to this place,
based on conversations with his own staff members, openly gay and lesbian
service members, and conversations with his wife and own daughters.
"I have to tell you that over the course of several
years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about
members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous
relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I
think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there
fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that Don't Ask Don't
Tell is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at
a certain point Ive just concluded that for me personally it is important for
me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get
married, Obama told Roberts, in an interview to appear on ABCs Good Morning
America Thursday. Excerpts of the interview will air tonight on ABCs World
News with Diane Sawyer.

Snort like a pig if you want. One candidate opposes gay marriage, the other supports it. If you find a need to make that confusing, I think it’s sad.
Have had a little more time to think on this matter and perhaps heterosexual unions are staying relatively intact and the attorneys needed new clients? A payoff to attorneys to generate additional clients?
Why have an age requirement for homosexual “marrage”?
It's my understand that Romney has rejected gay marriage his entire career, therefore can you furnish some more input relating to your comment or a link to information?
In my wildest imagination I never thought a sitting President would utter such heresy. Even a gay Marxist panleninist like the Kenyan. Nothing is sacred now in the US. The family is destroyed. No man and woman together for marriage. Plus 50 million babies killed before birth. What kind of people have we become?
Reminds me of ancient Israel. Destruction is soon to follow a people behaving so: basic tenet of history and scripture. Penalty for not following God’s plan for mankind.
Here is what homosexuality and gay marriage brought to my life: my gay married brother died of AIDS 6 years ago. They never talk about the Aids deaths.
Unmarried teen mothers. Married grouchy old gays and lesbians. Decline and decadence. It’s all about the sex, complete selfish self centered twistedness. Disgusting Obama he will probably marry his gay lover now. I understand that Hillary has one too. We are a nation run by and for perverts.

For starters, the link above, plus I have several posts above.
Doubters may wish to look up the Massachusetts laws on marriage, or look up to see if there was legislative action to change them.
The Goodrich decision text is online as well.
Also, YouTube probably has the Romney-Kennedy debates that has Mitt saying that gays should have equal rights and Mitt would do more for gay rights than Ted Kennedy (from memory, not exact).
What you say is true. What may also be true is that which the future holds and what/which some politicians, on the side of evil, also know. Imagine a complete meltdown of the dollar with a repeat of Hoover. It maybe is another setup. Don't know ... but demonRATS play for the long haul.
The black vote went heavily for Obammie the Commie in NC as it did elsewhere.
It will be interesting to see how the blacks in NC who voted against gay marriage will vote for a black presidential candidate who supports it.
You'd flunk Politics 101 if you didn't know Biden was definitely sent out there directly by the President to say what he did. Probably it was a peace offering to the gay lobby, but they didn't budge without a full endorsement so Obama caved.
Yep, 0h0m0 is downright low all right.
Obama calls his view an “evolution”.
However, if we were all gay their would be no evolution or breeding and our species would die.
This guy is a creep.
Bears repetition.
This gAy is a creep.
ROTFL! I'm sorry..I don't want to upset your applecart darlin'. You just move along and...absolutely do not pay any attention to the mountains of information right here on FR about Romney's part in forcing Gay marriage on MA./s
(Seriously people...this is exhibit A in why this country is toast. The the illusion of a two party system in our socialist state is complete. Congrats commies.)
"Nov. 18, 2003 Romney responds to SJC ruling with four-sentence statement implicitly recognizing SJCs authority, says only remedy will be a constitutional amendment: I disagree with the Supreme Judicial Court. Marriage is an institution between a man and a woman. I will support an amendment to the Massachusetts Constitution to make that expressly clear. Of course, we must provide basic civil rights and appropriate benefits to nontraditional couples, but marriage is a special institution that should be reserved for a man and a woman."
As some here continue to reject the Republican nominee, I just wish that only the truth is posted - Democrats are the spinners, not Conservative or Republicans.
Sort of like how Romney got nominated?
I have to admit that Obama just did more to help Romney win over the conservative base with this move than Romney ever could have on his own.
And gay marriage is much more acceptable among the younger demigraphic, something Obama needs to win. It is also a distraction from his economic failures and high unemployment. Obama would like to make this election about social issues, not his record.
When gay marriage came before the MA Supreme Court, Romney fought against the decision which made gay marriage a right. As governor he had to enforce the ruling, which some have faulted him for doing, but critics do not apply that standard to other issues, for instance faulting Pro-Life governors for enabling abortions in their states because of court decisions legalizing abortion
Heterosexuals have babies, and they grow up and vote. Homosexuals occasionally get to adopt babies, and they grow up and vote, too. So who has more babies?
Note to Williams: Romney should run against Obama’s anti-religious radicalism and put the economy on the back burner. It’s difficult to run against a President who is willing to pass out unlimited handouts to people in a bad economy. See FDR. People will vote their pocketbook and that means voting for the person who will give them handouts to help them survive in these troubled times. That means Obama. Running against someone who is attacking churches and deeply held religious convictions is a much more winning issue. 90% of the public will back up the one favoring traditional religious beliefs on that one.
